Tuxes?

FI and I have an appointment today at Men's Wearhouse to pick out the tuxes. I got an e-mail coupon several days ago for $40 off each tux if we go by the 19th. FI is totally not looking forward to it, but I am kind of excited. That being said, what are we supposed to ask these tux people? I feel like we are really unprepaired. Has anyone done this yet?

I am going to XP this on Attire & Accessories, but I like your opinions too.

I had to respond before I could see the actual post... TK is driving me crazy!!

I really didn't know what to expect either, but the salesman was really helpful. I'm sure they are used to most couples not being very experienced at this

I think it's a lot like shopping for your dress; go in with an open mind and let the experts do their job. Good luck and have fun!!

I agree, as long as you have an 'idea' of what you're going for (like colour or an inspiration picture) than just have an open mind and trust the professionals if they suggest he tries something on

I'm with you on this. The only thing we know we want is gray tuxes. Our problem, is that none of the tux places in NH have the charcoal color we want. I'm interested in everyone else's thoughts on this as well.

They can sometimes order the tux you want in a color they don't "normally" carry. Depends how maany of them you will need. Just be prepared with an alternative color. DD & I had a good laugh @ FI expense when he said "you mean there's more then one kind to look at?!" ... so guess who's NOT going by himself to pick them out!! LOL

It was pretty painless. We just went in and met with the manager. First we picked vest/bow tie colors/pattner for the guys (flat black satin) and for FI (flat white satin), the tux style (black something one button something or other. FI picked the style from his three choices), and then the shirt style/color (white) and cufflinks/studs.

The whole process probably took an hour. The guy definitely directed FI in the appropriate direction. FI had some rather ugly ideas (he didn't want his vest and tie to match) and the guy told him that was a bad call. I think he trusted the professional's opinion more than mine, and luckily I agreed with the guy at the store!

We picked out our tuxes today as well. I had the same coupon, but then this week I got another one that's good through September. If you register online they send them to you.

We are having the Charcoal Gray Vera Wang Tuxedos from Men's Warehouse. They aren't available until August, but literally we will be the first wedding to wear them they will be ordered the day they are available. and our guys have until end of July to get registered and measured at their local MW so it works out.

DIRTY: they only show the black one on the website but the gray is gorgeous, its very similar but the jacket is about an inch shorter and the lapel is a bit thinner. Its a slim cut tuxedo and looks very modern. I don't know about you but I think sometimes (and maybe its just poor measuring) but rented tuxes look sloppy and very baggy in the pants and the jackets very long. I got to see it at a bridal show, otherwise I have one flyer with a picture I will dig out and scan it in if your interested in seeing it?

Groomsmen will have The tuscany vest (its just a paisley) in Sangria and Sangria colored bowties. The Groom will have the same in Ivory.
