Workout DVD Recommendations

I'm looking for a workout DVD I can do in the mornings before work. My date is 9/27/13 and I'd like to lose about 30lbs and tone up before the big day. Any recommendations? Thanks ladies!

Re: Workout DVD Recommendations

  • Popular ones:

Insanity - mostly high intensity cardio
30 Day Shred - weighted cardio
    P90X - strength & endurance

Also check out the Nike Training Club app -- it gives you a nice variation of workouts that are easy to do at home with limited equipment and complete with videos to demonstrate moves.

I really like Jillian Michaels- I have "Extreme Shed & Shred" and I know there are others. Really intense and not that long time-wise (though you can play them back to back for a longer workout). I am a big fan of The Biggest Loser too, so I have a soft spot for her.

ETA - Her style is a lot of cardio intervals and weight intervals, so it makes me feel like I'm knocking both out of the way at once.

  • I have a few workout DVDs but don't use them very much. The one I use most of the time is my Crunch Cardio Kickboxing dvd. I like it because it offers four workouts in ten minute segments so if you're pressed for time you can do just one, or do all four if you have forty minutes. I usually do it with weights in my hands too.

  • I have some Denise Austin, which I usually do in the evenings as they are more aerobic-centered.  I also LOVE Jillian Michael's DVDs and have Ripped in 30...it comes with a downloadable menu with food that is very easy to achieve (buying and making).  They are 20-min workouts, and right now I do weeks 1 & 2 back-to-back.  I like her program because I only need to find 30 minutes in the day to complete it and just when I think I can't finish a rep, she is either encouraging you to go on, or threatening to beat down your door if you quit!!!

eh...in the last 6 months i've tried a lot of different diets/plans and none have worked for me. Weight watchers, carb addicts, etc. It's been difficult for me since one of my primary jobs at work is to stock the extensive pantry - I'm talking every granola bar, cereal, chip, pretzel known to man. The temptation has been terrible!
  • I recommend P90X...there are about 10 DVD's in the set so I never do the same thing everyday, therefore I don't get bored and unmotivated as fast.
  • I really like Violet Zaki's videos (Cardio Sculpt and Cardio Kick).  The workouts have good variety and work the whole body, but they are the least obnoxious videos I've ever tried.
  • P90X2!!! Love it!!! Did the first one and lost 30 pounds a couple years, was able to keep it off, now trying to tone up and lose a bit more with the second one!! Takes alot of self motivation though :/
  • I love Turbo Fire or Turbo Jam. I lost over 20 pounds on Turbo Jam.
