Wedding Cakes

I was pretty confident in my decision to get my cake from Haydel's, because I know they have done wedding cakes for years and very reasonably priced.  My planner has been trying to steer me away from them, because she says that several of her brides have complained about the cake being dry and the design of the cake being a disaster.

I'm not looking for a really complicated design and was actually going to have my florist provide some fresh flowers to put on top.  Just looking for any feedback or suggestions for a reasonably priced baker.  I don't really want to spend like $4/slice, because that will almost double the cost of the cake.

I had mine from Haydels and it was a very simple cake also with fresh flowers around and we heard no complaints. My mother actually brought a lot of the left overs to my coworkers the following day and they all loved it too

I have heard several complaints about Haydels as well. Try looking at Royal Cakery.

We used Haydel's and loved our cakes. What we tasted at the cake tasting was a little dry.  However, we had several compliments from guests that it was the most moist cake they've had.  Here are pics of our cakes in case you would like to see.

My daughter got her grooms cake from Haydel's last weekend. The people at Haydel's were great, and at the tasting the cake was delicious. But at the reception, while the cake looked lovely, and just as they ordered it, the cake was really dry and unappetizing.

My cakes from Haydel's were AWESOME!  The cake tasting wasn't any good, but the final products were perfect.  The cakes were moist and very delicious.

We used Royal Cakery and were 200% pleased. The price is slightly more, but like most things, you get what you pay for. Shirelle is good NOLA people and we were happy to give her our business.

Oh, and Keisha, vendors are not allowed to solicit on The Knot.
