9 year old's blog shut down by politicians

...Is the headline of this story:

http://www.wired.com/wiredscience/2012/06/neverseconds-shut-down/

I checked out the kid's blog.  She seems awesome.  This kinda makes me sad.

CN - 9 year old girl has been taking pictures of her crappy school lunches and blogging about it, which apparently is no no no.

Thoughts?

ETA - this happened in Scotland

  • Why are they so against this?  I think it was very cool of a 9 year old to do this and bring light to something important to her.

  • It look like they changed their mind(s). In the 4th update.
Good for her. Its important for kids to learn healthy eating habits from a young age. AND she used her attention to raise money for charity. Bravo.

I watched a series that Jamie Oliver did here in the US and it was disgusting what they were serving in the schools.

  • So I'm reading the blog and it seems like the school will only allow you to go and get fruit if you've eaten everything on your tray.  So if you don't finish your pizza, you can't have fruit?  That seems..... wrong.

  • All this does is add to my frustration (even though it's in Scotland) of the state of our national (an dinternational) food manufacturers.  It's absolute CRAP that people need to be given only two options 1) Eat this food that isn't really food, or 2) Don't eat.  That's crap.

People need to stop being punished for bringing scandals (big or small) to light, ESPECIALLY when it comes to the food we eat on a daily basis.  It infuriates me that money is more important than health to so many people.

  • I'm glad about the update Matty.  I've been perusing through her blog and I adore it.  She is so cute!
