Officiants rate increase

So my WC package comes with a choice of officiants and we selected Pia. She wrote back that we would need to pay an additional $150 because he just increased his rates. Is that a huge increase??? What would you do??

    What was the original rate? I've heard officiants are between $250 and $350. So $150 would be a big increase.

    We brought our minister in (my uncle), so I have no idea as to cost (we paid for his family's lodging for 5 nights). But, I guess, ultimately, you have to decide whether it's important to have Reverend Pia, or the cost you want with a different minister.

    I booked Pia, my WC quoted me $300.

    We booked Pia as well. $400 in total...i believe the breakdown is $250 for the ceremony and $150 for the rehearsal at olowalu the morning before. HTH! J. :-)

    We paid $250 for Valentine Rosete, but I did book him back in '10.  That does seem like a steep hike, but I guess they are just trying to make a living.... 

    BTW -  Rev.  Rosete was fabulous!  My cousin who is getting married in Maui in November picked him after seeing him at our wedding.  He is really just a nice guy and makes you feel at ease.

    Thanks for the suggestion, I will check him out. I'm not sure if Pia was charging a lot less then everyone else but I'm not sure it's worth an extra $150 out of my pocket. Thanks all!

    as a maui resident, I know and love Pia.... it sounds like he just aligned his prices with everyone elses.  I can say for certain, you will not be disappointed.  He is a  true Aloha spirit filled man.   Best Wishes!
