Book Recommendations

To help Julie liven up the board, recommend some of your favorite books!

I am going to be flying quite a bit at the end of December and always love good books while stuck in airports and on the plane.  I generally prefer chick lit or fun mysteries but anything will do!  Also do you have any favorite authors and why do you like them?

I'll start.  My all time favorite author is Janet Evanovich.  Her Stephanie Plum series is fantastic.  I never re-read series but I've read every book twice.  I also really like Jen Lancaster whom I recently discovered.  She's hilarious.

The Art of Racing in the Rain and Snow Day are two good recent reads.

I have some good chick lit books at home, so I'll look at titles and post more Friday.

I loved the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series.  The Tale of Edgar Sawtelle by Wroblewski.  Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides.  And I am a fan of ALL of Kathy Reichs books; they are the books that the TV show Bones is based off of....but I hate the show because it is just horrible compared to the books.

The last really good book I read was Columbine.

For shits and giggles, I downloaded Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy on my Kindle.  Needless to say, it is horrible! Do not recommend! lol.  The scary thing is that she has two more books out!

I'm kind of lame - lately all I've been reading is Harry Potter and assorted teenage vampire relate books Embarassed

I read a few good books in my past summer English class though that I really liked - Olive Kitteridge and The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao.

    The Harry Potter Series
    The Sookie Stackhouse Series
Perseus Jackson and the Olympians Series  (yes I know this is for kids but it is really good!)
The girl with the dragon tatoo was good, started off slow but once it got going I didn't want to put the book down.
The Other Boleyn Girl.  Can't remember the author at this time but all the books in that series was really good.

Right now I am reading the Guardians of Ga'hoole series, yes another preteen/teen book but I don't care.  Afterwards I am reading Ayn Rands Atlas Shrug to bring it back to adult books.

Ok, thats enough for now.  I read about a book a week so I can go on for a long time.

Jennifer Weiner is my absolute fave chic- lit author!
I really like the Sookie Stackhouse books and finally read the Twilight books after much hesitation, but they were so addicting!
Candace Buschnell (sex and the city author) has a few other good ones (lipstick jungle, one fifth avenue)
Jen Lancaster is pretty funny and very honest

I really like Nora Roberts. There's a great mixture of romance and suspense in her books, if you like that sort of thing. My favorite by her is Carnal Innocence.

I LOVE these books. I own all four and bought them the day they came out. Those are my escape books when I just want a light, run, romantic reads.

Anyone on here on goodreads?  If you're anything like me, I have trouble remembering if I've read books or what I thought of them.  I love it because I can keep track of all of them and rate them plus find other books to read.  Yes, I am a big nerd :)

If you're on goodreads.com, feel free to add me: emarston1@gmail.com.
