Rehearsal Dinner at Ft. Laud Beach

Needing to find a rehearsal dinner venue!  I am planning our wedding events from Boston so I am unable to visit potential rehearsal dinner spots at least for a few months. We are looking for a casual, laid-back, fun, and reasonably priced place to have the rehearsal dinner.

I wanted to initially have the dinner at Don Arturo's (it is across the street from my old high school and it brings back good memories) and then have everyone head over to the bowling alley by the beach for unlimited bowling after 10pm and karaoke. But my parents do not like this idea and think the logistics will be too difficult to go between 2 locations and they are big fans of bowling. So I'm looking into other places

I came across Bluefish Cafe, Tarpon Bend, and Lulu's Bait Shack. Anyone have any comments positive or negative about any of these places? Or any other places close to the beach? Our wedding will be at the Sheraton on Ft. Laud Beach so we want someplace close by.

Already looked into Mai Kai, Shooters, Bimini Boathouse, Rustic Inn, Steak954, and Chima and all were just too expensive.

I apologize for the long post! Appreciate any feedback. Thanks!!

  • I love Lulu's but if it's the one at Beachplace your talking about IMO that is to informal for a rehearsal dinner. I looked at the Sheraton they have a dinner room there an really nice bar with mermaid watch area. You could also ask the coordinator there for her opinions in rehearsal dinners.
  • Thanks for the suggestion. . .I used to live in South Florida and from what I remember I think Lulu's was filled with underage people too. ..probably not the best environment!
  • we actually got married on fort lauderdale beach ... and we had 99% of our guests from OOT ... so we had it at Smokey Bones in Fort Lauderdale ... about 5 miles away from the beach ... north of Commerical on Federal ... it was soooooooooooooooooooooo affordable especially since we were having 70 people at ours ... it was a perfect atmosphere ...

we calculated it and it was cheaper to hire vans and have it at smokey bones instead of paying extra to have it local on the beach ...

  • Have you tried Mango's on Las Olas? They have great food, live music and dancing it's great for people who are traveling from out of town?..Also, thinking out side the box if you wanted something different there in the Jungle Queen Cruise that rides along the I intercoastal touring the million dollar homes in ftl, the boat stops on a private island and they host a casual yet fun BBQ while they do a show? Check out SUNY.org for visitors info for the city of fort lauderdale or google fort lauderdale CVB. Good luck!
