Dress cleaning

Where would you recommend I clean my dress? Also, how much does it usually cost?

Re: Dress cleaning

My dress was cleaned and preserved by Prestige Preservation.  My sister's inlaws own a dry cleaning chain in MA, and this is where they send all of their wedding gowns for cleaning.  I guess this company is one of the top wedding dress cleaners that dry cleaners use. (Many cleaners say they do it in house, when in fact they send their dresses to this company).  I figured that I could trust a company that the professionals use. :-)

They send you a prepaid shipping box for your dress and accessories which you pack your dress in and ship it back to them.  They do the cleaning and return the dress in a really nice preservation box.  I was more than pleased with the service and result.  My dress was actually packed in a double box, an outer cardboard box w/ a handle and an inner box that has a window so I could see the dress.  The dress was also insured for shipping.

I heard that some preservation companies are scammers.  They got caught telling people that the warrantee on their dress cleaning would be void if they opened the box.... when in fact, they were sticking the dirty dress in the box and shipping it back.  For fear of voiding the warrantee, people weren't inspecting their dresses after.  Prestige does not have this kind of limit and even gave me instructions for taking the dress out if I wanted to.

Their prices are listed on their website: www.prestigepreservation.com I found the pricing to be quite fair and in some cases more reasonable than some of the other places I looked at.
