XP: Help with color selection!

Hey everyone! So now that we have our venues locked down, I figure it's time to start giving our colors some serious thought. Our ceremony will be at a city park overlooking the ocean, and because the view's so nice, we will not be doing any decorations for the ceremony. Now here are some photos of our reception room:

As you can see there is a lot of blue in there! I really want to do black and white with pops of color. Since I have been eying succulents, sunflowers, and gerbera daisies as potential flower choices, I was thinking of doing some combo of black, white, green, yellow, and bright pink. But now that we have so much blue, I'm wondering if I should try to incorporate blue in there somehow.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! Blue or no blue? Which color(s) will look best with black and white?

I think that yellow would really pop off of the blue they have trimming the room. It would really depend on the shade of blue or green for me.

What color are you thinking for BM dresses?

Personally, i love a deep navy blue with sunflowers google it, seriously, sooo pretty! You can always do flowers in different shades of blue with a pale yellow accent...but like Ashley asked, it depends what color your girls are wearing. Oh and your venue is gorge!!!!

Thanks ladies! I'm very happy with the venue. They allow you to bring in all of your own vendors, so I love the flexibility!

We are going with black dresses for the BM's. I think the GM will be in black slacks, white shirt, black vest, and a colored tie, but ultimately that is for FI to decide. The flowers (bouquets and bouts) will tie everything together for pics.

The green I like is sort of a muted lime green - like the color of the "add post" button here on TK!

I feel like yellow and blue are definitely the way to go, I think green ties in nicely as well because of it being in the same colour family (yellow+green=blue yay elementary art class!) If it were me, and I had black bridesmaid dresses, I'd want a very bright bouquet, which I think is pretty trendy at the moment and would not necessarily be difficult to pull off (execution or cost). Or statement shoes. I loves me some statements shoes.

Just a thought on the black bridesmaid dresses (my sister did black at her wedding which was black tie)...where I am from a lot of people wear black to weddings. At my sister's wedding me and the other attendants all kind of blended in. Also, it is hard to tell from just a photo but the lighting looks a little dim. Can the bridesmaids dresses be black and have some sort of colored belt?

I am having a hard time with color too (which is pathetic given my line of work) but navy will be my "black" and then I am torn between aqua, kiwi, fuschia and salmon for accent colors (or a combo of two or three).

Agreed. My girls are wearing black and I think the dress will stand out. However, a point is made about color. My girls are wearing a cobalt blue shoe, another way to have them stand out from the rest wearing black.

Yes, the style of the dress would make a ton of difference. I was just having my ptsd flashbacks to my sister's wedding. Ours were boring! I wish we did a colored shoe or sash. And our bouquets were just calla lillies. My sister would not take any advice from me. Which was sad. I love her to death but she has no taste.

Thanks for the input ladies! Now I am thinking: black and white with hints of "TK green" and sunflower yellow. I don't want to go overboard on the blue and I am thinking fuschia might be too much. My original vision was black/white/green/yellow so I will probably stick with that!

I am planning on doing black dresses with a bright bouquet like barefoot suggested. The BM's are choosing their own dresses and shoes. I like the mismatched look. I wish I could afford to select a shoe choice for them in a standout color, but that's just not in our budget! FI did suggest a colored sash, but since they will all have a different style dress, it's no guarantee that the sash will look good with all the dresses. Anyway, I'm not worried about whether the BM's "stand out" or not.. is that weird?

Chels..if you have a Deb's near you they currently have some "stand out shoes" on sale. I know mine does..yellow, green and I think a blue. Hth!! Also, there is a Khol's sale that should be coming up in the next few weeks.

Do the black, white, green, and yellow colors. They will go really well together and work with the blue not against it. Also be careful how much green you add since it's kinda pastel like. You don't want it to clash with the blue in the venue. Make the green the accent and it should be great. I absolutely love succulents and hope you do those with the sunflowers. I know they will pop against the black.
