Brunch wedding. Cake or no cake?

We're trying to decide if we should have a tradtional cake or not.

I saw an idea for a struesel wedding cake that I loved. I'm not sure what people would prefer or if they'd miss the tradtional wedding cake.

There will also be cinnamon rolls, donuts and muffins. So should we even bother with anything else sweet?

And why has this become the thing I've chosen to get hung up on. :)

Re: Brunch wedding. Cake or no cake?

  • I would always have dessert at a festive celebration.  Some people want a traditional cake for the cutting and traditional aspects, but it's fine if you don't.  The streusel cake sounds cool, but I really think you can have whatever you want - it is never too early for a piece of chocolate cake, IMO.
  • I think you need some kind of dessert.  The cinnamon rolls, donuts,  and muffins are part of brunch.  I am a cakeaholic.  It is my favorite part of the wedding reception.  It would be fine if you choose to do the struesel as your dessert, but I think you should do something.
  • I vote yes to cake.

I always vote yes to cake :)
  • Definitely have a cake, even if it is not a "traditional" cake.

  • I always vote "yes" for cake, too!   That doesn't mean it has to be a traditional white cake, though.  If you found a streusel wedding cake that you loved, then go for it ... sounds like an excellent match to a brunch reception.
  • I vote for cake too! Regardless of the other sweets, having cake too is always great!

  • I like cake, and I think it's fine at a brunch wedding, if at no other time before noon.
