Walking Down the Aisle and Receiving Lines

Lets start with Walking down the Aisle.  Can we do groomsman, best man, groom with mother, bridesmaids, maid of honor, mother with grandfather (mother is divorced) ring bearer, flower girls, and me and my dad? Or is that wrong? Wedding is at a resort

Second, reciving lines. Do we HAVE to have this? DO we walk down the aisle after being pronounced husband and wife and then wait outside for people to exit? and then they go to cocktails while we do photos?

Re: Walking Down the Aisle and Receiving Lines

  • You can do the processional anyway you'd like.  However, it's usually done with the BM and MOH (+ flower girl and/or ring bearer) walking just before the bride and her escort.   The MOB is usually seated as the last guest before the BP.

The receiving line is just a way to make sure you are able to greet each one of your guests.  If you have another way of doing this then skip the line.  DH and I visited the tables during dinner (we were the fist ones to eat so we had time while everyone else was eating).  It made for some great photos with our guests.

You can do whatever you want. What you are describing is a traditional Jewish wedding procession.

It's okay to skip the recieving line, as long as you greet each guest during your reception.

  • We decided not to do a receiving line. We're going to take the time that would have taken to take just a few pictures and then head straight to the reception. We plan on visiting tables during dinner to make sure that we get to greet everyone (since we get to eat first and it's a buffet).

  • OK thanks girls! I think we will skip the reciving line since we will be with everyone at the wedding and will be walking around
