CT Winery Bachelorette?

I am a former Knottie that is now planning my friend's bachelorette party! We are thinking of doing the whole winery tour thing in a limo and are considering CT. Has anyone done this in CT? If so, any suggestions of wineries to visit or limo companies?

TIA!!

Re: CT Winery Bachelorette?

  • I haven't done one with a limo but my fiance and I did the CT wine trail a few summers ago. We went to a lot - I'll list you our favorite ones - they are not all next to each other but you can pick which ones you like.

    Hopkins Vineyard 0New Preston, CT
Jones Farm Winery - Shelton, CT
Jonathan Edwards - North Stonington, CT (our fave - we had our e-pics done here)
    Chamard - Clinton, CT

Also, Saltwater Farm Vineayrd - we never went here but it's near Jonathan Edwards.

My sister is doing this for her sil's bachelorette i will have to find out how they are doing it. You should pick up the winery passport. This tells you whats close to eachother and whats not. My friend and her boyfriend did the  enitre winetrail this summer over the course of every weekend. I do know she said some were were it to do like two or three in a day because of how close they are, and others were far away (like a couple hours in the car) so they sometimes hit 3 at a time or just one. HTH! sounds like fun!

  • I havn't been in CT, but a friend did this for a bday party in Long Island which was really fun.  The wine wasn't great, but if you are looking for something a tad closer to DC, that is an optoin.  I fgured I'd put that out there, since prior to going I had no idea there were vinyards on LI!.  There were several bacholorette parties there at the time we went (April, so right before wedding season gets in full geer) and they all looked like they were have a great time.

  • I've never gone to the vineyards as a bachelorette party, but I've gone in general and there are tons to choose from in CT.  not sure what location your looking towards, but Wallingford has 2 vineyards just minutes from each other, Gouveia and Paradise Hills.  both are gorgeous and going to paradise feels like you've walked into Spain because of the style of their building (link below).

either way, there are tons of places to choose from in CT.  the only thing I'd caution you on is space.  I'm not sure how many of them would be willing to reserve tables for you, and they can get pretty crowed on nice days.  I went to Gouveia for my birthday this past fall with about 15 people on a saturday, the place was packed and there was no where to sit inside. however, we anticipated this and had brought out own white folding tables which they were happy to let us set up on the lawn outside so it worked out great.
  • My friend had her bachelorette at Salt Water Farms and they did a great job.  We only went to one vineyard, but we were able to bring in food and spend the afternoon there.  I think the tasting was $10 a person.

Jonathan Edwards is also nice (my wedding was there), but I haven't been to a large tasting there.  I really like their wines.

  • I would recommend Saltwater Farms and Jonathan Edwards, the distance between the 2 is manageable and they offer very different feels.  They both often have live music and other events going on.
  • I did this for mine! It was a blast. We went through the hartford-litchfield area, but I've been to almost all the CT wineries and my top ones are:
    Gouveia Vineyards
    McLaughlin Vineyards
    Haight-Brown Vineyard
    Jonathan Edwards Winery
    Jerram Winery
    White Silo Farm and Winery

My FI cousin's MOH is planning this as a bachelorette party. I did the wine trail recently, I prefer the wineries in Litchfield county. I came across a limo company that offered vineyard tours at a bridal show, I will try to find the ad I picked up from them and let you know the name.
  • We went to Haight-Brown and Hopkins and another one close to there... there's a bunch up that way. Good luck!

  • Hi everyone! I know no one has responded to this thread in awhile but I'm hoping to bring it some new life!  I'm planning a bachelorette for a really close friend of mine and she wants vineyards/spas in CT. She lives in RI and the rest of her friends (including me) are coming from NJ.

Based on what I've read about the different CT vineyards, it seems like the closest to one another are either in Litchfield or Stonington/Mystic. Any opinion on which one may be best for a bachelorette?! We want to also go out Saturday PM so are looking for a restaurant with some sort of energy!!

    Any help would be appreciated!!
  • If you want to go out at night then go to Mystic/Stonington.  There are a few vineyards in that area and downtown Mystic has some places to go out.  The casinos are also fairly close too.  They are on the CT/RI border.  Litchfield will be way out of the way unless you have girls coming from the north.
  • DH and I go to the CT vineyards all of the time. There are basically two areas in CT where there are a lot of vineyards close together- Mystic area and Litchfield County. We did the Mystic vineyard trail last year for our anniversary and stopped at

    Jonathan Edwards
    Stonington Vineyards
    Salt Water Farm Vineyards
    Holmberg Orchards

They were all great and the tastings were about $10pp (most gave you a souvenir glass, too)

You could always pair the winery tour up with a trip to the casinos, too. Enjoy!
