Cruise Excursions

We are taking our first Carnival cruise to The Bahamas for our honeymoon in October, and on the Carnival website, I can also go ahead and book our excursions. I've been told to wait until we are actually on the cruise, because we can get them for a lot cheaper. My concern is that they will fill up and we won't be able to get our first picks. Anyone have any experience with this? Any advise is much appreciated!

Re: Cruise Excursions

  • I haven't done this before but I think if there is something you must do book it before hand. Then something you don't mind if you miss it wait until on the ship. But I think you would need to book any spa visits or excursions asap after getting on the ship. We are going on our first cruise together too this October and would like to see what others have to say.

  • There's no harm in booking them early (before they fill).
Check your cruise line policy, I know we're going Princess and we can cancel up to the night before the excursion with no charge.

I would definitely book them ahead of time.  We just got back from our cruise honeymoon. We booked ours months in advance and were able to get our first picks. The line to choose excursions on the ship the first day was insanely long.  I wouldn't waste your time waiting in the line and risk not getting the excursions you want.

  • I cruised with Carnival twice, and we booked our excursions ahead of time.  They do not get any cheaper as it gets closer.  if there is something you definitly want to do, you better book it before it fills.  As for the spa services, wait until you are on the ship, they always run deals during the cruise (and you can negoiate) and cheaper than booking ahead of time.

  • I second Mona8 - we booked our excursions ahead of time and are VERY glad we did because the lines on the ship itself were extremely long. And, like CMGr said, it's much safer to go with the cruise sponsored excursions. They actually came looking for us once when they were ready to leave and we hadn't made it back to the dock yet.
  • Book them ahead of time, chances are the popular ones will fill up. And like PP's said, you don't want to be stuck waiting in a line all day to book your excursions while on the cruise ship!
