Flowers

How many flowers?

I am doing my centerpieces and bouquet like the picture below but I am a little confused on how many flowers I need to order. I am doing my bouquet, 10-11 centerpieces, and the head table. The centerpieces will be in a 4x4x4 square glass vase.
I am thinking I need to order the following:
Roses 125 stems
Carnations 150 stems
Hydrangea 40 (maybe 60)

Do you think this is enough for everything? I'm mostly worried about the hydrangea.

Hydrangeas are pretty big, and also more expensive than roses and carnations, so it's more economical to use fewer hydrangeas, and more of the other flowers.

If you are using full sized hydrangeas, they are typically about softball size (3-5 inches across).  If you are using mini hydrangeas, they are usually about tennis ball sized.

For a 4" cubed vase, I'd use about 2-3 full sized hydrangeas (or about 5 of the mini ones), and about 3-5 each of the roses and carnations, depending on if they are fully opened or not.  That's about all you'll have room for.

For an average sized bouquet, about 3 full sized hydrangeas (or 5-6 minis), a dozen roses, and about a dozen carnations.  A few less for a small bouquet, a few more for a larger, fuller bouquet.

So your original plan of 40 hydrangeas, 100 or more each of roses and carnations sounds about right.  It's always nice to have some extras, and it's not much more if you order in bulk.
