I never realized he was that old either (he was 82)
New Years is gonna be so different.

Ryan Seacrest fascinates me. I have mad respect for that guy. He does EVERYTHING and never falters. Even when that dude dumped "ashes" all over him at the Oscars, he kept it totally cool and classy. I kind of want to be him, in that he is part of so many different things.

Oh, and I knew Clark was old, but I always imagined him younger. It will be weird next NYE.

To be honest, I couldn't even watch NYRE the last 3 or so years because it broke my heart to see Mr. Clark (stupid TK) in the condition he was in. It's still sad that he's passed.

I really thought he was going to live forever...the man looked amazing up until he had that stroke a couple of years ago. NYE will never be the same

I'm super bummed about this, partly because I freaking HATE Seacrest.

Two years ago when he came back for the first time after his stroke, we were watching the countdown with some friends and Noodle was all "Dude, WTF is wrong with him? Why is he acting like that?" all loud and it got quiet and my BFF goes "....uh. He had a stroke."

Awk. Ward.

I haven't watched NYE for years and TBH, I thought Diick Clark was already dead. At any rate the news doesn't surprise me as he's apparently been in rough shape for a long time.

It gives me sads, yes. But not that surprising unfortunately.

That's too bad he's gone. He was so pleasant on New Year's. And LOL that we can't even spell the man's name on the boards! I think that's the real end of an era. Think about Diiick Van Dyyke. Do any younger men named Richard shorten it to Diiick anymore?

lol no he didnt! he got all snarky about it and had to mention it to every single person he interviewed until he threw a hissy fit and peaced out like an hour before the awards started when there were still people arriving.
