So, I've been lurking for a while, but I've finally decided to jump in and introduce myself:)
Screen Name: Jorja86
Age: 25
Significant Other's Age: 25
What You Do: I'm a Registered Nurse
What SO Does: Analyst at an investment bank (don't ask me what that actually entails)
State of Relationship: Dating, moving in together in two weeks!
How Long You've Been Together: a little over two years
When You're Getting Married (if you're engaged): who knows
When You Got Married (if you're married): n/a
Fur Babies: BF has a dog (a mutt), I have a cat that's mine, and both my parents have dogs (a corgi and a border collie) that we both adore. We also have two red slider turtles...don't know if they count as "fur" babies though.
Favorite Color: black and pink
Favorite Thing About Your SO: He's the kindest, most loving person I know. He accepts and loves me for who I am. We fit perfectly together, even though we're very different in a lot of ways.
Least Favorite Thing About Your SO: He's a complete slob-the laundry and dishes appear to breed if left unattended for too long.
Hobbies/Activities: I LOVE cooking-especially baking, reading, wine, dance (I danced for 15 years before I graduated from high school), travel, driving with my windows down and the music up
Describe Your Personality: I'm a typical first child-I can be "take charge" (read: bossy), but I'm incredibly nurturing. I come off as really outgoing, but I actually don't actually feel comfortable around people until I know them really well.
Snark Level (1 [low snark] - 10 [high snark]): hmmmm, a 5? I try to be nice, but have limited patience for stupidity/ridiculousness.
Tell Us Something Interesting About Yourself: I'm the oldest of four children-my little sister is 14, so I pretty much helped raise her ( as well as my youngest brother, who is 16), and I'm incredibly close to my entire family. BF and I have been semi long-distance for 1.5 years of out 2 years together. I coudn't find a job in the area I went to college/where BF lives, so I moved back to my hometown, and since then, I've been spending one week in VA working, and one week here with hime-driving 3.5 hours one way or the other every week. I just got a job here (yea!), and I'm so excited to move up for good.
Sorry, that's probably a novel...look forward to hopefully getting to know you ladies

ETA: correct spelling...whoops
Re: Intro?
Do you like potatoes?
Mac and cheese?
Being long distance is no fun, I would kill to be only 3.5 hours away from BF. Any form of long distance is awful though. It is awesome that you found a job near him though!
[QUOTE]Turtles totally count as furbabies since I consider my hedgehog a furbaby and he is really a spiky-baby. Pictures, please. And welcome to NEY!

Will you posts pics of your hedgehog please? I love hedgehogs they are so cute!
I LOVE your hedgehog, Liv. I want one....I read about them, and we might be able to handle one...we're considering it
Still here and still fabulous!
Harry Potter. What can I say...I've read all the books, and read them in order as they came out (so I've been in to them since I was in middle school). Also seen all the movies, and been to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. I recently recreated butterbeer, in alcoholic form, from a recipe I found on Foodgawker and brought it to by college roomates' birthday party (she's equally obsessed). It was a big hit.
BF and I agree that we can't handle two dogs right now, but when the time comes to get another dog, it will most likely be a corgi.
Just a warning/FYI, in case you don't already know, they can be a little bit "nippy", as they are herding dogs. My Dad's dog was actually bottle fed by his breeder, in addition to being fed by his doggie mom, just so that he would get used to people, as associating them with good things. We have had no issues with biting/nipping at all...he's great around little kids, we've never had an issue with him at all...he's awesome.
I'm not a discriminating mac 'n' cheese fan. I love my homemade recipe, but sometimes some kraft blue box stuff really hits the spot. Also LOVE WaWa mac 'n' cheese...I don't think WaWa is a national chain though, so you may have no idea what I'm talking about. It's amazing though.
Mac 'N' Cheese Recipe (warning, there is about 2X as much cheese as there is macaroni...told you I loved cheese)
Ingredients:
8 oz. elbow macaroni
2 Tbsp. butter
1/2 c. all-purpose flour
2 c. milk
12 oz. shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese
8 oz. velveeta, cubed
1/2 onion, diced
3/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp chili pepper
Directions:
1. In a large pot, boil macaroni until al dente. Drain.
2. In a medium saucepan, over medium heat, melt butter. Whisk in flour and stir with whisk. Add milk and continue to whisk until there are no visible lumps. Cook until thick and bubbly (about 5-7 min), whisking frequently.
3. Add diced onions, 1 cup of the cheddar cheese, the velveeta and the seasonings.
4. In a large bowl or the saucepan, mix together macaroni and cheese mixture.
5. Pour into casserole dish and cover with remaining cheese.
6. Bake, covered for 30 min. at 350 degrees. Remove cover, increase temperature to 425 degrees, and allow cheese on top to brown. Remove from oven and allow to stand 10 min. before serving.
[QUOTE]Any case, Jorja, welcome!!! What are your thoughts on potatoes and Harry Potter? Nerdy tendencies? Sexual freakiness?

Hi Jorja! Welcome to NEY! :)
I want a hedgehog too but I think they're illegal in PA.. bummer! I'm going to find a way to smuggle one in! lol
best of luck with moving in with SO. i have loved every minute of living with mine. moving in was such a great step!
[QUOTE]I love potatoes...especially twice baked potatoes and mashed potatoes. Also, cheese is my favorite food. Seriously. Most of what I cook has cheese in it...it's not working out well with my weight watchers plan. Harry Potter. I MUST KNOW THIS! There is an HP thread from a few weeks ago where I told everyone that my family has Hogsmeade weekend every October and my sister has been trying to re-create butterbeer for the past 3 years we have done it. I must know!
PS - Welcome!!
Liv - Earl is the cutest thing ever. Now that I know roughly where you live, I will most certainly stop by to steal him shortly :)
Hi Jorja! I have an 11 year age difference with my sister too! I'm excited to hear how your move goes!
Andrew and I have been living together for 6 months- and in 4 weeks, we are moving from California to Colorado!
ETA: actual pictures instead of link
1 part butterscotch schnaps
1 part flavored vodka (I used the Pinnacle Whipped Cream flavor, but vanilla would work too)
Cream Soda
The original recipe didn't include the vodka, and called for adding ice and blending. It also had an addition for the topping, but we didn't have a blender when I made it, so we just had those three ingredients over ice, and it was soooo good.
