We are, and got the kit and sand form Michael's. The kit came with 3 glass bottles and a charm tag to tie around, but we're not using the tag. I had to buy my purple sand separately. I saw some cute (but expensive) kits on etsy too.
We are doing a sand ceremony. We decided to get a glass cube that has a stopper in it. I want to keep it so the vases were out of the question. I am going to personally engrave the glass with our names and dates and a little saying.
We would prefer to do sand over the unity candle, but we need to ask our church first if this is an option (I'm sure it won't be an issue but hey, ya never know). The kits at the craft stores (Michael's and AC Moore) are almost $40 and that seems like so much! I'm thinking of just shopping around for 3 vases (or other container type thing), rather than the kits. The sand is on sale at AC Moore right now for $2.99!
We are but I am going to buy the vases not as a kit. I haven't been able to find a kit that I like so I am just keeping my eye out for a vase that I love and just buy that one.

We are doing a sand ceremony with an hourglass. We will have 5 colors of sand (one for each of us) and the metal stopper is a butterfly. I just have to get the script to the minister before the ceremony.

I am doing a sand frame, similar to the one bluivory posted but this one has 4 panes of glass, we are taking out 1, gluing one in (so the sand doesn't come out) & putting 4 wallet size pics in the corners. I already have it mapped out & will look awesome.
1 picture of me (i started out alone) then one of my son (he came next) then one of fiance (he came last) then one of us all together as a family. We did the pics when we did our engagement shoot. It is basically about how our family came to form.
We have to do it at the reception, the church doesn't allow sand ceremonys. We will have it when we do speeches i think.
