What's the best place to register and why?

We are going to register even though we realy dont need anything ebcause we both own our homes.  We are going to do zankyou.com and some stores.  Any suggestions on the best places and why?

  • Since you don't really need anything, I would recommend only registering at one store. If you are expecting only local guests, then any major store such as Macy's, BB&B and Target will work. If your guests are mostly from out of town, just ensure that the store you pick is also located in their city.

I registered at BB&B and Macy's. I find that Macy's is pricey but always has a sale and BB&B never really has a sale but has those 20% off coupons. For some reason, the majority of people that bought me a gift got off of Macy's, not sure why. They do provide free shipping if you spend $99 or more. So maybe that was it! Who knows!

Both Macy's and BB&B also have registry events which makes it fun and there is usually food and demos and door prizes. So be sure to check for one of those in your area!!!

BB&B actually called me the other day to invite me to their "post-wedding" event...I guess to come spend money on all the things we wanted and it wasn't gifted to us!

  • I loved Macys. Their return process is simple, they always have sales and they give a good completion discount not to mention they are in almost every big city. We registered at Macys and Target. Target annoyed me with their return policy and we got wayyy to many duplicates it seemed like their registry didn't update right away like other stores. We ended up with tons of extra duplicates and when we tried to return they gave us a hassle

  • Target only let's you return a certain # of items per year with no receipt per person. And since the registry didn't update or show as even purchased for some items i couldn't use the registry as a receipt like you normally can. I think they will only let you return 5 items per year or some ridiculous #. And if you normally shop at Target and returned anything then you may already be at your limit.

For example we got 5 George Foreman grills and 3 trash cans, 2 sets of silver ware, 6 stupid waffle makers etc all because they never showed as purchased. I had to call customer and yell to return stuff and since we had a lot of ppl still shipping stuff after the wedding as they came in we had to continuously go through the process of fighting with them.

It was very very annoying. Now if your guests put the gift receipt in the gift then you'll have no issues but most ppl didn't with us.

It almost made me want to not shop target ever again but then I decided I hated Walmart more than Target so I let it go.

  • Well I cant think of what we may need since we already have our house... But I know that there are some silverware and plates that would be nice for get togethers... well I guess Macy's will be the spot...to register at..

  • Crate and Barrel gets my vote because they give cash refunds.  That's always a plus!  Smile

They also have "private" registry parties with food/music where you can register while the store is closed.

  • I did 4 registries. I don't really want anything but money but some people will insist on getting something.

I did Target, BBB, Etsy, and a wishing well poem. I registered for fine china and every appliance I really want but cant afford.
