Aquarium Decor

So I have decided that I will have both my ceremony and reception at an aquarium, the problem is, is that I dont know what would work well with my colors. Which are Black,Red, and White. Normally aquariums come with blues greens and browns, I'm not sure if i will clash or more if only my floating candle centerpieces will be enough. Please Help Im SOOOO LOST LOL!!!

Re: Aquarium Decor

  • I somewhat agree with Retread. However, I was stuck between dark blue and turquoise for our main color, and chose dark blue because I thought it would look nicer in our venue. However, I think your colors would look just fine in an aquarium! The coral and fish always look beautiful in the blue and green, and it's not like they're trying to coordinate ;)

  • Coordinate your colors with the venue.  It's not a rule per se, it's common sense.

[QUOTE]Coordinate your colors with the venue.  It's not a rule per se, it's common sense. That's ridiculous. Think of the last ten weddings you attending. What color was the church carpet? What color was the ceiling at the reception venue? What color was the wallpaper? Be sure to ask all the other guests, too. The number who remember will be a handful, if any. P.S.  That thirtysomething bride blog is run by a vendor who makes veils, and anybody who thinks you NEED printed cocktail napkins for your wedding is whacked.  People wipe their mouths on your money and throw it in the trash.

    oh dear lord...calm down !

You really think a venue that has striking colors of blue and green won't clash with wedding colors of red and black?  Or are you colorblind?
Venues that are bare bones, are the places to have a reception where you can specifically choose colors and coordinate with up lighting, fabric draped walls, certain styles of chairs, tables, etc.  But that costs a lot of money too.
A reception at an aquarium doesn't mean you have to go all under the sea theme, but it would make more sense to stick with and coordinate with the existing colors of the venue....duh!
  • What types of things are you looking for?  Are you talking about the color of your linens or flowers in the centerpieces?  I guess I'm just a little confused about what you're trying to decorate.  I would think the aquarium probably has enough going on.
  • Well lets see this is the venue and I guess because I dont wanna be cliche and do an underwater theme at all I need other ideas for decoration
  • Here is a link to the acutal site that has more pictures and an actual virtual tour of the spot

so im guessing take a look at it and send me some feedback please. MUCH APPERECIATED!!!
  • also on the side note for those of you ladies that might check out the pics and see the colors of purples and pinks.... I absoutley hate those colors and so does my fiancee. We agreed on the colors Red, Black and White because black and white are both mine and his favorite color, and since ive always been bold red is my all time color lol just check out the hair... oh and i do have one centerpiece I just cant figure out if I want another one or just stick to just this on all the tables. Let me know what you think!!
  • MY DRESS IS BLACK AND WHITE BTW!!!!
  • Well laides no need to fight about it I do agree with you RetreadBride, becuase I cant thinkg back to any of the weddings I've been too and they match with the wall, with that being said I hate the color of the floor at the venue and WILL NOt try to match with it.
  • I think red and turquoise are beautiful together!

You can still do black and white in there but I think adding turquoise would tie it all together.

Fish come in all colors. Red and black and white is fine.

I had my wedding in an Aquarium as well; 95% of the decorations were the fish! No need to do anything really other than centerpieces, because the water and the fish made the room what it was.

Our centerpieces were low bowls filled with water, with floating grass, flowers and candles. I wanted to provide some light, and a touch of color, but I definitely did not want to draw attention away from the walls and fish.

The picture you posted of multiple floating candles is beautiful, and would look great in an Aquarium.

Edit: If I were you, I'd keep the main color as white, with black and red accents. So no red table clothes or black chair sashes. But some flowers under the floating candles could be red.
  • Great Thanks for the input!

I love the color choice for an aquarium wedding, ESPECIALLY with the candle idea you have.
