Omg, less than nine months left...

I am freaking out. During this holiday season we had some seriously unexpected blows to our finances and are now playing catch up. I don't know how I am going to catch up with booking our Florist and my day of hair and make-up. I am so stressed and at the same time am trying to deal with some serious family problems and finish my masters degree. Funny thing is what's keeping me going is my FI and how we are enjoying planning this wedding. I just hope we can catch up fast so that I won't have to worry about not being able to book the florist and make-up artist we want. I guess I just need to vent. I've spent about two weeks from planning and can't wait to get back to it but now wish I didn't have these extra stresses.

  • I totally understand. I am just finihsing up the STDs and I am sitting here wondering if I shoudl sand them. Are they good enough? Is this the right time? Is everything going to work out? Am I going to be done with everything on time? Ugh!.
I think we need to take one step at a time and breathe in between and it will be OK. Good luck to you.
  • I hear ya!  Our wedding budget is pretty out of control.  FI's parents want to invite an additional 25 people and are getting pretty nasty about it.  They are not contributing to the wedding at all and my parents cannot afford the extra people.  The only way we could do it would be to switch from a plated/seated dinner to a buffet.  I'm not thrilled about the possible change, but I'm just trying to tell myself that the food isn't the most important part of the wedding...the people are.

  • I'm almost at the 8 mos mark and although I'm comfortable with where I'm at in the planning, I think it's starting to hit me that it's happening THIS YEAR and that I need to start doing all the things I planned.
    I'm back to losing sleep...

  • I agree with the others, the fact it is THIS YEAR is suddenly hitting me harder than I thought it would! FI and I are paying ourselves for a 300+ person destination wedding, so I completely understand the finances and the stress that involves! Just try to take one thing at a time, and not stress too much. Decide what's most important and go from there. For example, you mentioned the florist and the makeup artist... of those two which is your must have? Tackle that one first...

I was so laid back about planning but the realization that we're 9 months out has me in a minor panic. I know what I want, it's just a matter of starting to bring it all together now. At least I bought my dress last week!

  • since our wedding is september 1st, i'm technically under 8 months already. this is really starting to freak me out, because saying "7 months and x days" seems like SUCH a short time. i feel like i have NOTHING done and i am super motivated to do things. however, i also don't want to rush booking things (florist, dj) because i want to do enough research.
    Happily married since 9/1/2012!

I feel the same way, I thought I was so ahead of the game, now with less than 8 months... I feel like I have nothing done. The last 8 months have flown by, i'm sure the next 7 will go even quicker....
  • For me it feels like SOOOO far away!

Just because you saw it on Four Weddings, doesn't mean it's a good idea.
  • I'm glad I wasn't the only one who got freaked on new years.  I texted my FI about how excited I was when we were exactly 9 months away and it felt like just enough time.  But, three days later on new years day and I realized our wedding was THIS YEAR now, not next year I started to feel so overwhelmed.  Our planning is going well but we have a lot left to save.  I'm also going back to school again this week after having graduated 2+ years ago and feel totally freaked out.  It's nice to know less than 9 months feels short to everyone else too!
  • I'm so relieved I'm not the only person feeling this way. At first on New years, I was so excited to be getting married this year. Then I realized, it's THIS YEAR. I went through a week of feeling so overwhelmed and panicky that I couldn't sleep at night. My fiance has been very helpful and calmed me down. I'm really worried about our budget since we are paying for all of this ourselves. We managed to accomplish a lot before the holidays; booked our venue, reserved our photographer, and booked our florist/decorator. I think if we hadn't of already accomplished that I would be in much worse shape. I'm excited and happy to be getting married, but also so worried about getting everything done and being able to pay for it all.
