registering...

Just wondering who you registered with. I registered with FI and loved it! But recently, I have been at the stores we registered at and brides are there with their mothers and not FI. Did anyone do that? My mom wrote out a list of everything that she thought would be useful and we went from there. Just wondering ladies!!

I'll probably be going with my mom. FI just isn't into that stuff and he wouldn't care about shopping for household items.

We didn't really register - and what we DID register was online through Pampered Chef and I did that by myself since it's kitchen stuff (even though I added barbecuing items for DH).  :)  If we had registered, I'm sure I would have gone with DH so he could play with the gun.  Or I could play with the gun and he could laugh at me.  :P

We registered at Target and Kohl's.  DH and I went to Target together because I wanted to get things that we both wanted.  There were a few things that I wanted at Kohl's so I talked to DH about those items and then did the registering there by myself.

I'd been on my own for 16 years so I wouldn't have thought to bring my mom.

FI and I will be doing this together. He is just as exciting as I am when it comes to picking things out for the house.

FI and I will register together. I'm sure my mom will help us narrow down what we really need!

I lived on my own for several years, FI did too. We both current live with our parents again, but much of our stuff is still in storage, however, there were a few things we needed, so we went to JC Penney's. I let FI play with the gun. He loved it. I also registered online at Amazon and Walmart. My mom registered for us at Target because she shops there all the time. I went back through and deleted the things I didn't want and added some things that I did want.

<div>Haha this is exactly how it was for us! We went to Macy's and Target and we had so much fun deciding how we wanted different parts of the place to coordinate. We had to really work at agreeing on a china pattern but that was all part of the adventure!</div>

I agree with PP's about asking your mom what you really need (although I didn't do this because I had been on my own for a few years, so I already pretty much knew). However, in my opinion, you should go with your FI if he is willing. FI and I registered at 2 places and we had so much fun! I might not be the best person to ask, though, because I didn't have my mom come to anything WR with me, except the bridal show, to pick out my dress, to the seamstress (aka all the "bride only" kind of stuff). FI came with me to everything else because it's HIS day too, and even though he usually just agrees with whatever I like or choose when it comes to wedding stuff, I still wanted him to be involved. All the things we did together to prepare for the wedding made us both all the more excited to get married!

FI and I did almost everything online, and we sat down and did it together. Although we emailed and called our moms a few times to ask about certian things.

Am I the only one who found the process very overwhleming? Maybe it's because we did it online, but the plates, the bedding, and the bathroom stuff was the hardest. I had no idea there were so many different kinds of plates...

H and I went together to register, but then Mom and I happened to be at the mall together and she had some suggestions on our registery so I went with her and added a few things.

FI and I are registered at Target, Walmart, and Bed Bath & Beyond.  I did all of our registries online, myself.  FI has zero interest in that stuff.  The only thing he's mentioned is that he didn't want a girly bathroom.  The master bath will be plain black and white, the hall bath will be tropical-ish, so I guess we'll be OK.  Other than that, he doesn't want anything to do with the registries, lol.  I asked him to do it with me because I wanted to make sure he got stuff he wanted too, and he said, "I just want whatever you want."  OK, lol.

FI and I registered at Bed Bath and Beyond, Macys and Royal Caribbean (for the honeymoon). We did everything in the store together and I let FI have the gun the whole time, so he had a good time!  My mom just gave some suggestions on things i might have forgotten.

FI went with me to Bed Bath and Beyond, and I started the Sears list online, then we went there to follow-up.  Really, we just used the store to double-check the items we found online just to make sure they were physcially what we thoguht they were.  He wasn't THAT into the shopping / registering experience.  I wouldn't have brought my mom to register ... maybe for ladies who are just moving away from home and don't know where to start, they could bring mom as guidance and a "this is what I think you'll need" kind of thing.  But I'm also a homeowner and have a pretty good idea of what I want the home to look like / have in it.

I did ask my mom for a few suggestions here and there, on brands, specific types of items, etc.  She was helpful but not overbearing, which was very nice.  Sometimes moms can get a little TOO involved and she knew just how much to tell me to help me feel like it was still my decision on the items I asked her about.  :-)

DH and I registered together - and then I went back with my Mom later on a few weeks later and we registered for some "essentials" that DH and I didn't think of off hand. We registered at BBB and WS

I did a lot online by myself (and then asking my mom and MOH some questions), and then FI went with me to Target to register too.  he's kind of opinionated, surprisingly!

FI and I are planning on registering together at Target and BB&B next weekend. He doesn't sound all that thrilled with any part of it except being able to play with the gun. I think it's going to be interesting to say the least, he's opinionated about the strangest things! I never know when there's going to be something he really cares about (like what the flower girls' dresses looked like???). I honestly never even thought to ask my mom about stuff.

mrandmrsbrist - I was totally overwhelmed too! I thought it would be so much fun and it was until about half way around the loop of BBB, I was so exhausted I didn't care anymore! ha!

FI loved carrying the gun around and we had a blast doing it together.

I registered with DH, I can't imagine not having gone with him. The stuff we registered for was for us not me and my mom or whoever else would have gone. It was nice for us to pick things together that were for our home, and we made a list before we went of what we wanted the color schemes to be in each room and what dish patterns we were narrowing it down to, etc.. we registered at Crate & Barrel, BBB, and Target. We registered in store, but did a lot of editing online leading up to my bridal shower and the wedding.

It was exhausting, but so much fun! We really loved attending the Crate & Barrel private event too. Love love LOVE C&B!
