Fitbit Ultra Wireless Activity Tracker

Hi ladies,

I am new to posting, but have been stalking this board for sometime.  Acting on recommendations from several of you I have joined MyFitnessPal.com and I love it so far.  It does everything I was doing painstakingly manually in Excel and it does it way better.  So first, a big thank you to the ladies who recommended myfitnesspal.com.

I was wondering if any of you have experience with the Fitbit Ultra Wireless Activity Tracker that is sold in the tools section on MyFitnessPal.com.  Its supposed to accurately measure your daily activity and connect to share the information with MyFitnessPal.  Has anyone tried it?  Does it work?  Is it worth the $100?  What are your thoughts?

I think the concept is great, but I am just not sure how much more it will provide and I don't want to shell out the money without some reviews.

Thanks.

  • I wasn't familar with the Fitbit but looked at it just now on MFP. I'm weary about it. I don't really buy the whole tracking sleep patterns bit. How would that even be accurate? Also, it says it tracks your calories burned but it doesn't seem like you're wearing a band to track heart rate. An accurate HR is essential for knowing calories burned.

If you're willing to spend $100 on the Fitbit, I'd look into buying a heart rate monitor instead. You wear it while you excercise and it tracks heart rate and calories burned. You can enter the calories burned into MFP after a workout. This has worked well for me. I'm a fan of Polar HRMs and some models are under $100.

  • I have one and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I knew that $100 is a lot to spend (for me) on something and it has made a huge difference.  I was starving myself without knowing it.  I was too active for the calories I took in and my body was in starvation mode.  I did a review on my blog (its in my siggy) where I went into more detail.

I like it because I also use the LoseIt app and all the data sync over so I always know if I need to eat some more or stop.  Plus it tracks how I sleep.

    I love it!
