Getting in Shape

Am I not working out enough?

With my schedule I can only get to the gym about 3-4 times per week. I try to stay for at least 60 minutes while I am there. I primarily only do cardio. I have tried weight training in the past and it has not worked for my body. I have started counting my calories on myfitnesspal, but is this still not enough exercise? I am worried I am not doing enough :/

Re: Am I not working out enough?

  • I think you have to do the amount of exercise that you can fit into your lifestyle.  If that is all you can do right now, then that is plenty.  Going to the gym 3-4 times a week is great!

Losing weight is 80% diet and 20% exercise.  Make sure to be good about staying in your calorie range and you should see results.

  • Not sure why weight training didn't work for your body. Increasing your lean muscle is always is a good thing besides the fact that muscle burns more calories even while you are at rest! I did straight cardio for years and it wasn't until I started strength training that I actually saw a transformation in my body.

When doing your cardio, mix things up by trying intervals. Pick a couple of days to go long and slower while the other days you should do short boots of faster cardio to increase the calorie burn and challenge yourself. Work out mindfully and intensely. It's not necesarily the time you spend working out but how you are working out. Use the rate of perceived exertion and should be feeling around 7 or 8 most of the time (that being hard to somewhat hard).

You may be doing the same old over and over again and your body is already adjusted so you aren't really burning as many calories as you can.

Choose food wisely in addition to watching your calories. Keep salt and sugar to a minimum and stick with lean protein, fruit, veggies and some complex carbs.
Drink lots of water and stay active as much as you can the rest of day.

    Good luck.

  • i have tried to eat cucumber with eggs for lunch for 1 week....finally i lost weight but soooo hungry and no energy for my daytime...

The fastest way to loose weight is control diet but need to be proper. Healthy and energy is the best for your big day!

What i am doing now is wearing shaperwear which burns fat and eat less per day. lose weight is a longtime job. Too fast is not a good way for your body. friend!

If you really want to be slim in the big day, you can try corset and some make up tricks to look slim :)

    Good Luck friend!
  • Shapewear which burns fat?  Uh...shapewear shapes.  It doesn't make fat disappear.  If it did, like Kristinanddan said, EVERYONE would be thin.

  • GoldieGirl, your advice is good stuff, but you need to remove the advertisement from your post/signature (I can't tell if that's your sig or if it's actually in your post, but either way, it's not allowed).

<div>I hate to be snarky, but if all weight loss took was wearing some shapewear, everyone would be their ideal size. I would bet any amount of money that your shapewear doesn't do squat.</div>
