What about Penn's View Hotel?

Looking to stay in Philly for part of our honeymoon.  Penn's view looks like it is in a good location to do some sight seeing and it is cheaper than some places we have looked at along Broad street.  It LOOKS like a subway is close by to get us over to Broad Street (we want to get up to Citizens Bank Park with out much trouble).  We would be saving about $100 a night if we went with this hotel.

Would anybody recommend staying here?

I stayed there for my birthday a couple of years ago.  It's a cute hotel.   We got the room w/ the jacuzzi which was a nice touch. It's a good location...close to a lot of restaurants (my fave Swanky Bubbles is less than a block away).  I say go for it!

I have not stayed there but there is a subway entrance on Market street a block up. I don't know if that is the broad street line or you would have to connect but it is close.

    Thanks!
  • I've never stayed there, but can confirm as a city resident that the subway is right at 2nd and market so it's only like a block away. It's in old city, which is a really cute area with tons of restaurants/bars/shopping/historical crap. There's more stuff if you walk west down market street (toward the higher numbered streets), but I honestly don't think you even need to take the El. I guess it depends on your level of walking-ness, but I can walk miles in a city. And front and market to 15th and market is only a mile and a half (30 minute walk) and that's already halfway through the city! Also, taxis are pretty inexpensive around here, especially if you are with someone.
