AWW Got my new E-Ring Tonight

Finally got my new e-ring. For those that are new or don't know the back story... I didn't love the ring my FI picked. One night over a year ago he asked to use my laptop. I said sure and he snooped my web history and found an e-ring I bookmarked 2 yrs ago. He decided after some further investigation to go a different route. Well he finally got it out of me that I was still dreaming of that ring... so over Thanksgiving break we went to Shane Company to see if they had another setting I liked. Well lone an behold I picked out the same exact ring over 2 years later!!!! So I believe its meant to be! haha

Shane Company has kinda been a nightmare but -- review to come shortly in my BIO.

Enough talk here are the pictures... my camera battery died so these are from my phone... they don't do it justice but if you wanna see it in person - well you'll have a chance at the next GTG.

On me... this guy is never coming off! hehe

My FI had no problems purchasing the ring at Shane Company and he raved that he did it online while chatting with a specialist and was very easy.

The problems came up during the trading in process. They couldn't find our account, apparently someone had entered his name backwards then it was entered in as just his first name... I mean they asked us everything from but our Height, Weight and Social to find his acct and nothing worked. I had all the paperwork he gave me with the ring information on it and his information on it (the certificate deal) and it still took them ages to figure it out. Turns out since he purchased it online they have to access his account differently. 30 mins later we finally were able to start looking and different settings.

Then we started the Trade - in order to trade in a ring you have to spend as much on the new ring and then some . I was uncomfortable about this but FI was cool. Since I forgot my Band we couldn't finish all the paperwork but I still wanted to have my New Ring ready when I brought in my current. So we put the new one of lay- away  and they assured that if we put 20% down it would be ready ... so we put 20% down and I went in yesterday with all my paperwork and the band this time...

Well they couldn't find our acct AGAIN! I told them what they did last time to hopefully save 30 mins well she found it but when the sales person put the new ring on lay away apparently it erased my current rings information -- again I told them its different since it was purchased online and they finally got it. Well then the band information wasn't listed and I explained to them twice it was a set so its all together the lady had to get the manager to see if he could sort it out and again I told him its a set... and he was like ohh yeah its listed right here as a 21 diamond set ... her band as 12 diamons and her ring as 9.

Yikes! I felt like I was doing their job for them which was really irritating; I think they could use a better training process. I shouldn't be able to tell them how to access their system as a customer.

Anyways then I went to actually finish paying for the ring and got that all taken care of and they hand me the dreaded slip to come back and pick it up in 3 days when its all set. Ergh NO People we put 20% down so it would be ready 3 weeks ago. She had the nerve to tell me they only do that for customers who put "something like 20%" I know lady they told us that last time so we put 20% down. Then she said oh well who told you to do that? Like it wasn't something they really do. She even went sofaras to ask if I really put 20% yeah look at my receipt I just handed you saying we put down $X.
I explained that 3 days wasn't an option as I was going out of town for the rest of the week and she explained they will push it through the shop and have it ready after 7 (It was 4 when I went in).
In the end I got my ring but they really need to update their system or train their people better. Because if you are doing anyting to change your jewlery expect a lot of hassle -- which I was expecting to some degree but this was just a nightmare!

Gorgeous Shan! I am picky when it comes to rings but I love yours! Speaking of Shane, my FI didn't like how he was treated there so we took the design I liked there and had Wedding Day in MG make it, which was also kind of a nightmare- the whole ring buying experience sucked!

I am glad you have something you love, and am looking forward to seeing your review.

    SO beautiful!

And wow what a headache with ShaneCo!
That is the opposite of the experience we had too which is kinda interesting. We also did a trade of rings as Joe ended up not liking the ring he had picked out for his wedding band and they were really helpful when we traded. No problems with accts either - but we didnt do anything online so maybe that is the glitch. They even waved that policy that it had to me twice as much as the original ring as we hadnt taken his ring out of the store (they were storing it for us so it was still there) and the ring he wanted was only a little bit more than the original one so we just paid the difference. They were really awesome about it all so sorry you had a bad experience! But at least you have a gorgeous ring now!

Wow that does sound like a mess! I agree that it sounds like a training mixed with internal computer problem. Must be something that needs to be fixed with the corporate side of things, or the IT dept. That sucks it had to be so complicated. :( We haven't had any problems with Shane like that yet, and FI traded in my original "promise" ring that he got there for my engagement and didn't seem to have any issues. Maybe it is the online glitch thing. Communication is key in those retail jobs! But like PP's said, at least you have your ring now!

Sorry to hear about Shane. We had the exact opposite experience, but it is making me think twice about them.

    So pretty!  I love it!

Haha, Jeff let me pick out my ring for this exact reason.. but he didn't want to propose without a ring.. so everyone always laughs when I tell them he proposed him a jewelry store.

Thanks ladies... I am actually a little self conscious about the size. Its .62 I believe and I feel like its HUGE and showy! FI said he wants to keep upgrading throughout our Marriage/Life but I dunno if I wanna go any bigger!

Shane Company made it right in the end and I hate getting mad over things out of my control. That being said I did ask my FI to go somewhere else for any other jewlery for me. For the sheer fact that we ran into the same system problem twice I doubt they would get it right the 3rd time.

    Bling bling!

That's 'only' .62?? It looks way bigger!  <-- I mean that whole comment in the nicest way possible. :)  Mine is about .55 I think, so I definitely didn't mean 'only'.

I love that setting.  It's gorgeous, but not too gaudy. Nice pick!

oh, and your mentioning of your reviews reminded me I still need to do mine. ick.

I've never posted here before, but I just wanted to tell you that your ring is gorgeous.  And agreed that it looks bigger than .62.  I am a lucky girl with a big ring, so let me say that you'll get used to it :-)

And I've loved Shane Co. since getting my ring.  They've been nothing but helpful, even when I went back a month after getting my ring to complain that it was set crookedly.  They fixed it, no complaints.  Sorry your experience was a nightmare, but mine has (so far) been great!
