Fired Wedding Planner

OMG.. I had to fire my wedding planner . I have four months until my wedding.. I dont know what to do.. Let me tell you why. So Facebook is a social networking site not to talk about your clients. So I told my wedding planner that we were not going to be able to make another payment to her at the end of May.. She wants to get on facebook and talk about us. May 5th was my birthday. So my fiance put on his status what he was planning to do for my bday on facebook ( mind you we budget very well. and and the agreement was to pay every 3 months) She gets mad saying if we owe someone money we should pay them.. I got so pissed.. What did she expect me to do for my bday nothing? So we fired her and my fiance told her how she wasnt running a good business by putting her clients on blast on facebook and she was un professional.. Then is even crazy she wants the rest of the money.. LORD HELP ME!!! Ladies what should I do?

I'm alittle confused. You have an agreement to pay her every 3 months. Was the end of May on schedule with the 3 month agreement?

I would read the contract carefully to see if it says your are responsible for the remaining balance. What was the agreement? With 4 months left, you could definitely plan the rest yourself. It may not be easy, but it can be done.

That was definitely unprofessional & I'm glad ya'll fired her. WTF......facebook? Really? Not only is she unprofessional....she seems ignorant too.

    Good luck!

I have the same question as Carla and the same recommendation as lil. If you have to pay her anyways you may need to call a meeting with her and work it out.

    Really FB status though?

I am a bride, but also I am a wedding planner. That is truly unprofessional what she did. I do advise looking at your contract and taking to her. Depending on the contract you signed, you might have a legally obligation to pay her the full amount. You have enough on your plate with you wedding being four months away, you don't want a legal battle as well.

Pray before you speak with her!!!

I concur with all of the above (as a bride and a lawyer LOL). Most contracts like these will state that you are responsible for final payment if you choose to cancel, or at least that you will forfeit the money that you've already paid. (A lose/lose either way).
While I TOTALLY understand how you feel, but you must also understand that she has a business to run and counts on payments being made when they are due. You can't expect that she should excuse your non-payment because it's your birthday, any more than the mortgage company, car financing, student loans or any other business does. As a business owner, she also has bills and obligations that she must meet.
She was TOTALLY wrong and inappropriate about how she handled the situation on FB. That was inappropriate and childish. But her childishness does not get release you from the terms of a contract.

Talk to her and see how a peaceful resolution can be achieved. Good luck!

Sorry for the delay. She went to high school with my fiance. We had a verbal agreement that we would pay her every three months. We paid her in December and January because she said she had a bill due paid her again in March. Then she called us Thursday April 28th asking for a payment. We couldnt get to the bank because we didnt have power in Madison, Alabama for 6 days due to the tornado on April 27th. We are going to give her the rest of the money because we dont want any drama. We just learned our lesson.
