NWR: So frustrated

I will try to make this short but sorry if it is long. My FI has been working this temp job for past two years and works his but off for this company. The company is small about 10 people employed fulltime so to get a permananet job there is tough. Well about 3 weeks ago an employee ending up retiring and he told my FI well now a position has opened up for you. So my FI and I were super excited and started acutally planning our future like buying a house, etc. No job was offrered to him yet but we thought since he has been there for a few years, it was was a no brianer. Well yesterday at his work a random person brought in a resume and my FI was like what the heck? So driving on our way down to the bridal tasting he found out that there is job posting online for the position that he was hoping to get. He is so pissed about it and so I am. Nothing has ever worked out for my FI and he always seems to get screwed over. Now he just wants to move out of the state and get away from his family. I am just so frustrated, I wish the job would just hire him and not play tricks with him. Thanks for listening, I am so mad about the whole thing.

  • what a bummer!!  :(

has your FI talked to his boss about this position he was assuming he would be offered?  maybe he should apply online directly for the position?

maybe this could be a "blessing in disguise" sort of situation and maybe there's a better job out there somewhere for your FI.

good luck with this situation, i hope everything works out for the best for you guys :-/

I agree with PP maybe her should talk to the guy about it. I mean if he mentioned it to your FI then that means they are interested in him. Also it wouldn't hurt for him to apply. Since it is a temp job and he was no previously employed by them then that may be what he needs to do.

    Sorry it's frustrating!

  • I would say apply for the position.  Since he is a temporary employee it may be that the business requires him to formally apply for the full time position.  Then I would speak to the owner/suprvisor and let him know that he is really interested in the position and don't be afraid to point out all the great things he has done for the company in the past two years.
    Time of our lives Anniversary
  • I agree with PP, it's super annoying, but sometimes companies make even their own employees jump through hoops.  He should apply and talk to a manager/owner right away to say how interested he is to become full time and all the loyalty he's had for the company in 2 yrs, along with any recognition or rewards he's gotten from them.

wow that sucks! Sorry that is happening like that :/ and good luck with everything!
  • I agree, he should apply!  A lot of people have to apply for promotions and job opening within the company, even if they are a regular full time employee.  Hope it works out!

Agreed! Maybe they didn't know, or they have a process to go through. He needs to talk to his boss and find out what he has to do. Good luck!
