We're going to the Marriott Renaissance Resort in Oranjestad, Aruba.  One of the deacons at the church FI grew up at is an Executive VP for Marriott.  When we got engaged, Mr. C told FI, "Call me when you start to think about the honeymoon."  So, FI called him, and Mr. C sent us a list of resorts and said, "Pick one."  FILs bought our plane tickets, and we are feeling so blessed by all of it.

We picked Aruba because it has a relatively short travel time, it's out of the hurricane belt (it's not totally, completely immune, but they rarely get hit), and the resort has an adult's only side.  They also have a private island that's ~30 minutes away by boat that apparently has flamingos and iguanas just chilling out.  It's not AI, but I really like exploring new places and not just staying in the hotel the entire time.

FI has been on mission trips to Mexico and Peru, but I've only been to Canada, so this will be a new experience. :)  We haven't talked about splurges yet, but I would love to spend an hour or so in the spa.

I forgot to answer for myself!  We went to Miami first to see a Monday Night Football game (DH is a huge Dolphins fan).  That was so much fun.  Then we flew to Orlando to spend a week at Disney.  We got the dining plan for free which was really nice.  We stayed at the Coronado Springs resort which was really nice.  We spent a day at each of the following parks: Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom.  Three of our restaurants for dinner were in Epcot so we spent three evenings there (park hopper pass).  We got the no expiration option and a 5-day pass but we got sick once we got to Orlando so we only went to the parks 3 days (an have 2 days to go back someday!).

DH chose this spot and did all of the reservations.  He feels most comfortable doing things he has done before and has familiarity with so since he had been there before, he wanted to go again.  At first I was disappointed because I didn't really want to go (I feel Disney is overpriced and overrated) but I decided that anywhere we went would be great since we'd finally be husband and wife.  It was my idea to go to the football game and that was because I knew we could make a Monday night game and I love football.

Neither of us had ever been to a Dolphins game but both of us had been to Disney.  He had been to Hollywood Studios and Animal Kingdom which were both new to me.

We had three splurges.  We paid for a pre-game party with food which was not at all worth it. Then instead of taking the Disney bus to the hotel, we got a Town Car to take us to and from the hotel.  That was nice!  The final splurge was that we did the dolphin adventure at Epcot and we got to get in the water with the dolphins and do tricks with them.  That was really fun.

We are going to Riviera Maya, Mexico. We are staying at an all-inclusive resort called the Grand Palladium. I am so excited! FI has never been outside the country, except for Canada AND we have never flown together, so I am excited for that, too! We plan on splurging on a couple excursions while we are there, but not sure what yet. FI would like to see the Mayan Ruins. I could do anything- snorkeling, ziplining, whatever. I can't wait!

since we live in oregon, we're spending a few days at FI's parents' beach house, and we're still working out details for the rest since i just lost my job :\ so we'll see what we do for the rest, or we may just do that and save up for a bigger trip later

yarmik, which beach are you going to?

We are also from Oregon, and also went to the Oregon coast :-)  We spent our honeymoon - Sun-Wed - in a little place on the beach at Seaside, OR.  We were poor college students with only one job between us and we're both super cheap, so we chose to keep it small and inexpensive.  We'd also been told that we  probably wouldn't want to leave the hotel room much since we'd not lived or slept together prior to the wedding, so we didn't see th point in going someplace spendy to never see the outside world :-P

Our room had a kitchenette so we made some meals in, a gas fireplace, a tv with cable (we've never had cable so it was a treat!) and a balcony overlooking the ocean.  It was fantastic.

We go frequently for our anniversary.  One year we rented a little place in Lincoln City, another coastal town, with a hot tub.  That was delightful!  Another year we stayed in a B&B in Seaside, right across the street from where we spent our honeymoon!  It's really fun to go back to the place we honeymooned every year.

I am so excited for our honeymoon. FI and I will be staying two nights at the hotel which we are getting married. After that we will be spending two nights at Disney's grand califorian. We will be going to San Diego to stay two nights at the Del Coronado, and on Friday we leave for our cruise, which stops in Victoria for day before docking in Vancouver. We will be taking a train to Glacier National Park, to spend a few day before we head off to our final stop Niagara falls. We are then taking a train back home. We have both been to San Diego before and Disneyland. But never any of the other places, I've never been on a train and both FI and I have never been on a cruise, so we are really looking forward to it. We chose these places because I really wanted to go to Niagara Falls and FI wanted to take a cruise. He also didn't want to take a plane, so we are taking the train. We are stopping in Glacier because it is a three day trip by train and we wanted to break it in half. We are spending a week doing local things because the cruise which left two days after our wedding sold out before we had the money to pay for it. But it all worked out. As for our biggest splurge I'm not really sure.

Ash - if you can, try to go to the ruins at Tulum.  They are right along the beach and it is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

Alyssa - Wow - that is a lot of traveling.  I wanted to go to SD and stay at the Del Coronado but DH wanted to go to Disney so he won.  But I'd love to go someday.  I went to college near Niagara Falls which is pretty neat to see and Glacier is beautiful!  Enjoy your trip!

We will be going to Hawaii for a week, probably a day or two after the wedding. We are in the process of looking up prices for hotels&airfare through a travel agent right now. We don't know which island yet, but I'm excited! I've been to Hawaii before, but I'm looking forward to going back with FI & it will feel great in the middle of January!

Where:  We're going to Clearwater Beach, Florida for a few days, then to Sea World and Animal Kingdom for a day each.

Why:  FI and I were going to go to Petit St. Vincent near the Grenadines but it was a bit more than we wanted to spend, plus his Mema and mom were worried about us.  Then we found out anywhere else we wanted to go we had to be 21 or older - so we're going with his parents which is going to be awesome.  :)

Been There:  I have when I was in second grade - I don't really remember it lol.  I don't know if FI has, but I know we'll love it.  :)

Splurges:  I'm planning on going parasailing with FMIL as well as swimming with the manatees with her, and then swimming with the dolphins by myself (unless I can convince FI).  FI's not much of an adventure guy, nor is FFIL - so they'll hang out while FMIL and I do those things.  I can't wait!!

DramaGeek-the beach house is at seaside, and we were thinking of staying at this cute little inn in manzanita, or in lincoln city, but we haven't worked out the details on that yet, so we might just do that. i moved down here in the fall of 2007 and i still haven't been to lincoln city ever but i'm staying the weekend there with some girlfriends in a couple weeks and i'm really excited!

We JUST made the decision (and booked our flights!) this weekend! And our wedding is in 3 months...talk about taking our (FH's...) time with things! We'll be going to the Pacific Northwest, specifically Seattle and Vancouver. We live in south Florida so something beachy for us does not make sense because we're so close to that type of place anyway. We will drive to Ft Lauderdale for a night before flying out, then fly into Seattle, spend a few days there, ferry to Vancouver, spend a few days there, then back to Seattle to fly home. We'll be going whale watching (killer whale migration!!!), sea kayaking, some kind of super high crazy scary suspension walking bridge (yikes!), hiking the Grouge Mountain, visiting the original Starbucks, and (hopefully!) having dinner at SkyCity, the rotating restaurant at the top of the Space Needle. That will be a big splurge, as their meals dont' cost any less than almost $40...! Whoa! :)

If you ever need a rental in the Lincoln City area, we've used Horizon Rentals (www.horizonrentals.com) a few times and really love them.  They're especially great in the winter because they have awesome winter specials.

We are staying in the Celebrity Resort in Palm Coast but we are techincally going to St Augustine, FL (the hotel is 30mins away). We picked for a few reasons
1.Neither of us have been there in a very long time
    2. It's such historical city and Fi and I love history
    3. Neither of us were wanting to do too much traveling and it's 3 hours from our reception venue and I love that I will really go straight from my wedding to my honeymoon and can unpack and settle in for a week.
    4. I have heard of a lot of couples having a place like a cabin and villa and how nice it was to cook meals together and to have the extra space.

We don't know what we will spurlge on yet probably a nice dinner and I like Emily's idea of the spa. I'm excited to explore the hotel and the city.

rachelea - The Space Needle restaurant is AMAZING! At least, the view is - I don't remember the food. ;) I am originally from the Pacific Northwest - your honeymoon sounds like a great time!

    Our honeymoon:
Where: We spent few days locally at a hotel - just to chill out (and open gifts!). Then we flew to Orlando for a couple of days, and then on to a cruise through the Bahamas.

Why: I told DH that I wanted to go someplace warm, since I hate being cold. He suggested a cruise, and I agreed, so he planned the entire thing. :) Ironically, it was quite a bit warmer back in Phoenix than anywhere else - go figure. :P

Been there: We had both been to Orlando before, but I had never been on a cruise. The Bahamas were new to both of us.

Splurges: We went to Disneyworld the two days in Orlando. It was a definite splurge - we're both totally frugal. ;) But since we used wedding gift money, it was more like an extra wedding present for us.

We are going to a mountain cabin in Hot Springs, North Carolina.  My FI is from the mountains, and I have a condo almost on the Pamlico Sound, so we wanted to go somewhere more secluded, somewhere we wouldn't necessarily be able to go all the time.  The cabin has a kitchen, washer/dryer, a great porch/deck with a hot tub and BBQ gas grill.  We're looking forward to saving some $$ on the cost of food while we are there since we can cook (kitchen is stocked with all kinds of pots, pans, and spices).  We're going on Sunday after sleeping in a bit.  We have around a 5 hour drive up there, and we want to enjoy it and not be too tired to enjoy the drive because it's so beautiful up there!!

The rest of you ladies' HM's sound amazing!  We are considering taking a beach trip next summer but if my condo hasn't sold by then, we'll probably just stay at the condo and drive the 45 mins to 1 hour to Atlantic Beach.  We can always walk down to the sound to swim too, if we don't feel like driving!! :-)
July 16, Our Wedding Day, is also International Juggling Day!

me and FH haven't really decided on that. We booked our hotel for the first night here locally at a BEAUTIFUL hotel just outside of town. ( i told them it was my first night as a newlywed and they upgraded our room for free to the honeymoon suite! FAVOR!)

we live in Northern Cali...so we were thinking either Napa or possibly the Oregon coast. we will see. (:

We're going to Puerto Rico.  We were limited to a U.S. honeymoon, and we thought Puerto Rico would as close as we could get to something with an international flavor and warm weather.

We're going to head to Oregon Coast for a week and stay in a beach house. We chose it mainly because we want to "get away" but aren't really interested in resort or a cruise...and we want somewhere private-ish. I'm also a major fan of the Oregon Coast. That's my kind of beach. :)

We are going to Maui! That is, if there is a Maui to go to after this tsunami :P
We picked it because it's beautiful, and we found a really good-priced place. Neither of us have been there before, but both our parents have, and they loved it!

Wow, I guess we're the odd ones out staying up where its cold but we'll be touring Minneapolis/St. Paul.  My FI used to live up there and is familiar with it. There's a lot of great museums and things to do up there that we're looking forward to.

FI just booked our honeymoon today! We're going on a 7 day cruise, but I honestly don't know where since I let him choose. He did say that he chose this one because it makes a stop in Jamaica and his mom really liked the idea of us going there. Plus it fit perfectly inbetween our wedding and me having to be back in classes. We've both been on cruises with our families before, but it's been awhile so I'm excited!
