This sign has been the bane of my wedding planning existance! I got the idea while looking at signs on Etsy and figured out that to have one custom made would cost about $30 minimum. We're on a tight budget so I thought I'd go ahead and just make my own! Oy!!! I'm crafty but NOT a sign maker, aparently!
This thing went through three different looks before finally reaching it's current appearance and it's already packed in my suitcase and I will not change it again! But, basically, the background is actually yellow layered under white with crinkle paint. It's really hard to see in this picture, but the crinkle paint actually looks really nice and covers up all the blemishes (at least, I hope it does in direct sunlight!). Then the letters I used a wood burner to outline and then blue paint to paint in. My nephew will carry it down the aisle ahead of me.
In the end I probably spent $20-25 on supplies to make the damn thing so, FI was right. I should have just ordered it. But it became my baby and I refused to give up on it and now this is the final result:

I believe in a lot of things. I believe in fresh tennis balls, the healing power of bunnies, and that the novels of Susan Sontag are something I'll never read. In fact, I don't even know who Susan Sontag is. What is she... like... a painter? I believe in Crystal Lite because I believe in ME. I believe in the movies of Val Kilmer, though these days it ain't so easy. I believe in Darren Sproles, the word "dabble", the first season of "Silk Stockings", and big, warm, moist, gooey chocolate chip cookies that melt in your mouth and all over your face.
