Flower girl(s) on a sailboat?

We're getting married in January on a sailboat in Costa Rica... it's a small wedding, fewer than 40 people, on a 70-foot sailboat. I really want to involve my fiance's niece, because she means a lot to me and she's been very supportive of our relationship from the start ("Tio, she's the best thing that ever happened to you!" hahaha). When we got engaged she mentioned wanting to be the flower girl, but I'm not sure how to pull that off with no aisle for her to walk down. How do we do this on a sailboat? She'll be 10 years old and she's brilliant and bilingual (as is our ceremony!), so I was thinking of having her read something, maybe...? But she said she wants flowers, so flower's she's getting! I just need to figure out the details of that. Advice? There's another niece who will be 7, and obviously I want to involve her, too, because I can't leave one out... but this one doesn't really speak :o)

What do you think?

  • She could carry a bouquet or a pomander ball instead of throwing petals. So could the younger one.

I think pomanders are really cute for little girls.

How are you walking in?  Wherever you walk in from is where she can enter from too as the "entrance" before you.

Just because the 10 year old does a reading doesn't mean the 7 year old has to as well.  It's okay for kids to just stand there and be cute!  Does the 10 year old actually WANT to do a reading?
  • I agree with PP.  Get them both some flowers.  7 year old walk in same way you do and 10 year old do a reading.

  • From my understanding you say theres no aisle, are you not doing an entrance? They could just wear pretty dresses, hold a small boquet or whatever, and stand on either side of you  if you are not having a bridal party. If you are having a bridal party have them enter the same way your bridal party does.
