catholic parish that allows you to write your own vows???

my and my fiance are planning on having our wedding in kansas city mo and apart of a parish in springfiled mo and we have been looking for a church that accepts people from other parrishes and lets you write your own vows. If anyone could send me to a link to your church it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Autumn, I don't believe the Catholic Church anywhere will let you write your own vows. It is against the sacrament and the Rite of Marriage.  http://catholicweddinghelp.com/questions/vows.htm A few of my friends because they wanted to write their own vows did a little twist on it. They did the revealing before the ceremony with just them and their FI, and after they went out and took pictures. Sometime during this time they both had written down their own vows and read it to the other person. It was very intimate and private. Which I honestly believe would be more meaningful when it is not in front of a large group of people. Maybe you could do something like this?

I'm not sure about writing your own vows, but I do not it is very hard to get married in a parish that isn't your own. I actually tried to get married in my grandparents church, which is where my parents were married. The priest was super reluctant to meet with us and when he finally did he agreed to it but with stipulations. There was going to be a flat out charge of $1000 (instead of a donation that our parish asks for), rules on how many bridesmaids I could have, rules on the types of flowers thrown by the flower girls, and rules on pictures being taken in the church. I just got the feeling he was making it difficult on us because he didn't want to do it. We did call two other churches after that where my uncle's attend and they both flat out said no. We finally decided to get married in the church I grew up in and I wish I would have never bothered with the other ones.
