"Trumpet Voluntary" with no trumpet?

Hi ladies! FI and I are picking out our wedding music, and want to use Trumpet Voluntary as our recessional (and actually something called "trumpet tune" as part of the processional) but don't have it in the budget to pay for a trumpet player and an organist. I've heard beautiful versions on the organ on youtube, but can someone reassure me?? Is the music director going to think we're silly for picking these?

I've heard it on the organ plenty of times.  But please assure me you have a nice pipe organ and not a little toot-toot one.  Then I might not be so keen on the whole thing :).

I play it on organ all the time without a real trumpet. If your organist can't do that, then he is, um, reallly incompetent.

Yup, you're fine :)  My sister had it as her processional as just an organ piece!

I think it's beautiful when played on the organ.

I just realized that I'm probably one of the dumbest people on the planet.

M had a organist (provided by the church) a flutist and a trumpeter hired separately..  I just realized WHY she wanted the trumpeter.
