Crying?

Hello :)

Have you thought at all about crying on your wedding day?  I tear up all the time and I am sure I will cry that day - I hope my makeup doesn't run!

I think the thing that will make me cry the most is going to be walking down the aisle with my Dad, I may not want to let go of his hand.  And saying the vows.

I hope I don't cry, but I will have PMS that day and that makes me cry when my internet doesn't open fast enough or my water bottle spills on me when I take the lid off :/

Re: Crying?

  • I'm not sure. I plan to pick up some water proof black mascara for the day just in case! I don't think I will though... I cry more when I'm angry or see something super sweet. I don't cry as much when I'm sad or excited/happy. Weird lol.

On another note- who is wearing fake eyelashes? I'm debating if I want to or not.. I feel like I'll look so unlike me that I just don't want to!

  • I am!  My lashes are very long anyway, so MUA asked if I wanted to or not.  Um yeah!  The more the better and they looked very glamorous and still natural on me at the trial.  I wish I could wear them everyday.  They were not really longer than my own lashes, but way darker and fuller.  Pick up a few different lengths and test them to make sure you like how they look.  Some can look awful, some look great!  It helps them look great if you have a semi thick line of black eyeliner, in my opinion.

  • I'm sure I'll cry at some point. Probably during the ceremony. I have waterproof mascara though so I'm not too worried.

I have heard about trying to just tip your head down so the tears fall straight onto the floor and not down your face if you're worried about ruining makeup, but I can only see that working if you get emotional before the ceremony or during some other more private moment.

Orange, I thought about doing fake lashes because mine are really small, even with mascara, but I decided against it. I want to look like myself and I feel like it's easy to do fake lashes wrong...
  • My brother's girlfriend is doing my makeup and is coming over tomorrow for another trial.  She is testing out some fake lashes on me!  I'm a little nervous, but figure it's worth trying.

As for crying, I really only cry when I'm mad or in pain, so I highly doubt I'll be crying.  Plus, I  have an ugly cry face!

My FI is determined to make me cry! We are writing our own vows and he says he is doing them specifically so that I tear up. I usually don't cry when I am happy/excited, but when I see other people cry, forget about it! So I really don't plan on crying on my day, except if I see someone else crying.

ETA: I have never been a fan of the fake eyelashes so I will not be wearing any.
  • I don't think I'll cry, but who knows! I'm going to use fake eyelashes and water proof mascara just in case.

  • Yup, I'll be crying. My dad is going to make me cry and I know FI will too.

  • Dude, I cry at EVERYTHING. Commercials, news stories, especially weddings, my FI makes fun of me all the time.

I know I will be a hot mess the day of. I plan on having a cry fest the Wednesday before and watch sappy movies so hopefully it won't be too bad during the ceremony.

I am also doing fake lashes.

  • Ooooh Oooohh!!  I saw this tip in a magazine: use a tissue and fold it, placing the corner of it to the inner corner of your eye so that the tear gets absorbed into the tissue right away and never makes contact with your face.

I don't really cry that much, I usually shake when I get emotional.  I think I'll probably force myself to focus on the day's timeline running in my head to distract me from crying, lol.

Ok- here is a pic of me at my hair/makeup trial. This is me with no fake lashes- I won't be able to try them till the day of the wedding if I decide to use them. Looking at this pic, should I do them?? A lot of the pictures will be from this distance. (one of my eyes looks so weird in the picture....)

  • Yes!  Do them even though your eyes look great without, I would just for the added drama!  How many times do you actually get to wear them?

By the way, you are so pretty!

  • I want to say that I'm not going to cry, but I am very emotional and can cry very easily. As much as I say "nope, not going to cry", chances are I will. MUA will have to use some extra water-proof makeup.

I have long lashes too, but they aren't very dark and since I'm not wearing any eyeliner on my top lid, we are doing some "natural" fake lashes.

Yeah maybe I'll have my MUA bring in some lighter ones so I don't look overly done. And thanks adawn! My hair style will actually be different- probably pulled back and a bit fuller rather than parted and flat like that. And my belly looks pouchy in that pic..*sigh* I'll be suckin in in all my wedding pics! ha

  • Yep. I am going to cry the entire freaking day lol. I just had a long car drive yesterday and was nearly bawling thinking about the moment the church doors open up, everyone stands, and the pianist has the piano/organ combo of the beginning of "Here comes the bride" blaring. It's probably going to be the most overwhelming moment of my life. The moment I catch FI's face as he sees me for the first time... I cant wait!!

I am considering fake lashes, my trial is tomorrow so I'll try them out and be back with pics!!

  • I know I'm going to be bawling my eyes out.
My MOH read my vows and my FI's vows since we're not sharing with each other in advance, and she who never crys called me and was sniffling in my voicemail. So yep, I'm crying, no dobut.

Good primer and waterproof mascara! I have super long eyelashes so I'm not doing the fakes.

  • I will probably cry.

I am wearing fake lashes.  My MUA used  individual fake lashes for a bit more of a natural look.
  • I'm sure I'll tear up too, I'm a happy tears kinda person.

I am wearing fake eyelashes as well, they felt weird for like the first hour or so but then I was used to them.  They felt secure the whole time but came off easily when I used my eye make up remover that night.

<div>Finishing spray is also super helpful!  </div><div>
</div><div>I am not doing false lashes.  FSIL offered to do them for me but my eyelashes are actually very long and pretty full.  I also wiggle my mascara at the base of my lashes and then shimmy the wand on the way up to the tips of them so that really helps to make them look fuller :-)</div>
  • I don't normally cry, but I do get emotional sometimes, and I expect my wedding day to be one of those times. You never know, I might be fine. But I'm planning on it anyway. I use Revlon Colorstay makeup, so that should help... but I'm planning on using a primer and finishing powder, plus waterproof mascara, and have touch up supplies in my bag. I also bought some hankies to use on the big day!

FWIW, I bought some pricey Waterproof BadGal Lash mascara (I love the non-waterproof variety) and it was SOOO not worth it. The formula and brush is totally different than the non-waterproof kind. But I picked up some Maybelline Great Lash Waterproof on sale at the grocery store, and OMG, it is fantastic. I highly recommend it for folks looking for some waterproof mascara (it was $5.99 vs $22--holy crap!).
  • Von, I agree about the pricey mascara. I love makeup and will pay a lot if I love something, but that is not great mascara. My favorite is loreal voluminous. Five bucks at walmart. I go through one a month!
