Question re: Candy Buffet...

Hi Girls,

I'm still torn as to whether I should do a candy buffet. If you did one...was it a hit? Can you give me any recommendations for what type(s) of candy you put in the jars?

If you are still in the planning process, and you're thinking about doing one...would ou ever do this over a dessert table? Our venue has told us that if we want to do a dessert table, to remember that not everyone will partake and you don't want to end up with tons leftover.

We're doing it. I can't speak for FI's family, bu my family looooooves candy, so they at least will go crazy over it. Our friends are young, so I see a candy buffet going really fast with our crowd.

My friend had one, she had red as a color and all her candy was red, which is pretty easy to find. It was a huge hit. She did little Chinese take out boxes as containers.

Tiffany blue candy would be really cool in my opinion. You could do white/clear too with it. I'm sure the knotties could help think of some blue and white candies. Rock Candy is really cool looking! I Jelly Beans, custom M&Ms, hmmm, what else?

Anyway, I like the Candy Buffet idea better than a dessert bar I think.

I thought about including a candy bar, but with the photo booth that we're doing and all the other extras, the candy bar was just too expensive for us to fit into the budget, plus, I think I'd rather have a midnight snack than a sack full of candy.  That's what we're going with.  Good luck with your planning though!

My wedding is in 8 days and we are doing it. I bought all my containers from other knotties and am doing all red, black and white candies to coincide with my theme. I think it will be a big hit and it is doubling as my favors. Let me know if you are interested in purchasing all my supplies. They will be available after 12/31.

I was in my MOH's wedding last May and she did a candy buffet. It looked really nice (with coinciding colors to the theme) and she had all different size containers but I don't think that very many people actually took candy with them.
I think part of the reason is that it was in kind of a random place at the reception so some people didn't even notice what it was and thought it was just decoration.

We are doing one...I bought some cool apothcary jars at Home Goods for pretty cheap.  They also have some cool websites and you can sort through  the candy by color.  We are also doing more of a Chicago themed reception and adding a huge bowl of Garrettts...can't wait!

We're going to be doing one in lieu of a dessert table.  I thought it was a neat idea and I haven't been to a wedding yet that has had one.  My future stepmother in law actually was telling me that her sister went to a wedding and saw the candy buffet and they wanted to let me know of the "cutest idea ever".  Haha.

Oh yeah and we're doing a Garrett's popcorn one next to it.  I think we're just going to get big tins of each flavor and have the guests choose them out.

We had a candy buffet at our wedding Saturday, and it was a HUGE hit. Our colors were red, white, and a little black. We had the dj make announcements reminding our guests to visit the candy buffet and photobooth throughout the evening. Photos of our candy buffet can be seen on Kio Kreation's blog under "Marry Christmas"
I will also be selling my candy vases to any other bride in the area that wants them.

I've been to weddings with candy buffets and dessert tables - while both looked amazing, there were SOOOO many left overs because none of the guests really knew it was there, even though the DJs had pointed it out.

I love the idea, just make sure to put it in a very visible, high traffic area so you're not stuck with pounds of candy leftovers!
