Gift Registry Opinion

I'm trying to decide where to register for wedding gifts. I'm thinking about registering at Target or Kohl's and/or Pampered Chef. Where did you register and what how was your experience??

Re: Gift Registry Opinion

  • We registered at BBB, Macy's, and Amazon.  Amazon has a universal registry option, so we added a few things from other stores like REI and William Sonoma that way.

Register at places you like to shop that will be convenient for your guests.  You might want to search on this board for Target registry issues--I feel like there are always people posting about bad experiences with Target.
  • Thanks for your opinion. I will have to look in to that.

Somebody just asked this question a couple of days ago, if you go down the board to "Registry Feedback" (<-----clicky) you will find more answers.
  • I helped a friend with her Macy's registry a while back and it was nice and hassle-free.  They have a pretty wide selection, too; I'd shop there more often if I could afford it :)

  • Like PP said, there are always posts about how bad Target's registry system is.  And I feel like Kohl's items are too seasonal and change too often to register there, plus they don't have as much selection as other stores.  We registered at BBB, Macy's, and Crate & Barrel.

But you should go with stores that you have in the area that are somewhat convenient for people.

  • I registered at Target and Macy's.  Macy's was awesome.  Target was OK... but I more recently used Target for our baby registry and it was a nightmare!

  • Totally go for pampered chef!  I am a touch biased since i am a consultant: : ) but my director has been awesome working with me and my registry.  I really like the registry because it's like having a show, when people start purchasing items from it your rewards $$ starts acruing.  I'm having a Pampered Chef shower at the end of the month too, I think it will be fun cause it will give people a chance to see and use a bunch of the stuff they can give me.  I also did BBB & a small Target one.

Word to the wise for anyone though Walmart & Sears registries are terrible!  My Fiance's brother is getting married in two weeks and his parents had an aweful time with the Sears one.  I spent an hour in Walmart trying to figure that one out!  UGH!
  • Ditto for the bad Target experiences. We had trouble returning a couple of duplicate gifts because their return policies are horrid. You can return items without a receipt if they're from your registry, but if your guests don't scan the registry or don't get exactly the item you registered for, it won't work. I would suggest somewhere with a better return policy. We liked our Kohl's registry; plus, they always have great sales that some guests might want to take advantage of.

We also did a registry through Honeymoon Pixie and got really great responses from it. The gifts were split about half and half between our normal registries and our honeymoon registry, and our experiences with Honeymoon Pixie and Kohl's were much better than the one with Target!
