Best way for scheduling/details/etc AND back issues (2 things- 1 post)

Im 29 days away so definitely in freakout mode. I either have a shower or my bachelorette every weekend until the wedding so its crunch time. Im a HUGE control freak (bad, I know, but oh well) and am currently typing up each person's responsibility the day of plus an overall schedule of the day (hair, makeup, shuttle pickups, each group's pictures, etc) Has anyone else done this or have a better way to organize all this info and details? Right now I have Two colums- the schedule on one side and bullets on the other of responsibilites during that time- but its a novel. HELP!

Also, I seem to be carrying all this stress in my back. I cant sleep becuase of the back pain and always feel like I need a deep tissue massage every time I come home from work (I teach middle schoolers, which doesnt help this problem) I plan on getting a massage before my wedding, but does anyone else have any remedies to help this back pain and tension?

  • As of right now, I have 4 columns:
The first column has the times on the half hour.  Beside that I have a column for make up, then a column for hair, then a column for the venue/ceremony.

In the hair/make up columns I have the names of the people who will be getting their stuff done at that time.  Then in the venue column I have everything from, when the limos arrive, when groomsmen need to be ready for handing out things at the ceremony, cocktail hours/pictures, dinner, speeches. etc.

I have a separate sheet for those who have special responsibilities - like remembering the rings, handling the tips, remembering the dress, bringing the gifts home, etc.

Can't help with the back pain - I can't seem to shake mine either!

    Good luck!
  • I was thinking about doing these lists too, so thanks for the reassurance that it won't be too much- I really just hope it's helpful. The problem I continuously come up against, is that some of my fiance's family do not speak english. So, everything I write then has to be translated into Spanish...invitations, save-the-dates, readings, the website...and now some of these lists. It adds a whole different level of exhausting although I really do love their culture, language, and just about everything else about them too :)

As far as the back pain goes, there are a few things that may help.

Warm compresses, warm bath before bed to release some of the tension, deep breathing (breath in as your stomach expands and then slowly breath out as your stomach comes back in like you are gently pushing air out of a balloon; try not to breath in a way that tightens your chest), and pacing. Pacing is basically not allowing yourself to get above, say, a 5 or 6 on a pain scale. When you reach that point, relax, sit down, whatever you need to do to get it back down to a 1,2, or 3 before exerting yourself again. These are just tips. Obviously,if any of these suggestions makes it worse, stop doing it. And, if the pain gets too bad, go to the doctor.
  • I made a bridal party timeline. This was easiest. I started with that Thursday all the way through that Saturday just of the times things were going on and where. It seemed to work the best!

I have not started mine YET but I need to: Out of town guest arrivals, pick ups, and locations of sleeping arrangements. Hair appointments (will set times next week with stylist), Photograph times (because groomsman is catering and one photographer is helping....) So I need a photo line up of what groups WHEN so photographers can split up at locations of ceremony and reception sites to take care of things. I am freaking out because I REALLY hope nothing is planned the day before the wedding at our reception venue so we can pay the $75 and get in and decorate a bit..that will ease my mine a LOT on where things will be...since I am ordering my cake blindly haha. I also have to set up appts at venues.....24th is rehearsal, dinner, then bachelorette party...saturday is prepping appetizers, pasta salad, and manis/pedis and final packing/steaming. Sunday the 26th is the longest day of my life that won't feel like it haha. I should work on that soon but no time. I do have a massage on the 24th in the AM before flights arrive in....from physical therapy since I won't have therapy for over a week with the HM

  • Make time to go to yoga once a week. It totally destresses my life, I go on my lunch break at work every Friday.. TRUST ME - it's so worth it!!!
I'm 48 days out, freaking out, but haven't even touched a timeline. I just want to crawl in a little hole and have someone do it for me.. hahaha!

  • take a deep breath. my stepmom offered me the best advice (imo): accept now that nothing is going to go as planned and laugh it off. its all going to go to hell in a handbasket and will not be perfect.

that being said, the end results will still be wonderful and memorable. the flaws in the day will be things to laugh over and share in the future.
