Engraving on wedding rings

Are you having your wedding rings engraved? If yes, how so?

I was thinking about this today after picking up our invitations. I am wondering if we could have interlocking hearts with our date engraved. Our wedding invitations are very simple, with just the interlocking hearts as the only non-wording aspect. I'll have to inquire if that is even a possibility, but in the meantime, haven't thought much about engraving, so wanted to see what others have/will do!

Not sure if we'll have anything engraved. I think a lot of that depends on the cost. If we did, it may just be the date and maybe our initials. I have heard some serious creativity on engraving though. Quotes or pet names or other significant dates/phrases for the couple. I'm plain. I was a fan of the

raised on the ring so if you took it off, it had a heart imprinted into your ring finger. I saw that on pinterest and thought that was cute. I've also seen fingerprints.

I was going to have his ring engraved but then he went and picked a tungsten ring which you can't engrave so there went that idea.. I was going to have 'Put it back on" engraved inside and he was going to put 'everyday and twice on Sunday" in mine but my ring is so small it wouldn't fit.

He is engraving mine

Originally, we were both going to send off the rings to be engraved a week before the wedding and not look at what they said until after the ceremony. However, his ring is cobalt steel which is completely scratch resistant and we can't engrave it. I'm going to get him a watch or something that I can engrave for a present that day though

Hopefully we will get them engraved. Mine will say "the two of us take breath like one" and his will say "the two of us we dream like one"...We listened to a lot of Yellowcard early on in our relationship and this line was in a lot of the letters we'd write to each other when he was deployed.

He is putting my name and our wedding date on his, and his name and wedding date on mine. That's the tratidition in FI's culture, and I like it as well.

Everyone is so creative with their engravings!! I think we are just going to do initials and wedding date? We have our rings picked out we just have to order them. This is a good reminder

We looked at rings in Zales I believe and I think they said they add an engraving for around $35.

We were going to engrave, I'm not sure what though. But then FI decided to wear his fathers ring. It is made of gold but its a very low weight (they think like 10 carrots) and the shop is afriad that engraving would not stay or would break the ring. So we're not doing it anymore. I am, however, giving him a lighter with our intials and wedding date.

I don't think we are doing any engravings my band is pretty skinny. Also his band is tungsteen so we can't engrave that. Everyone's sound so cute.

For FI, I'm getting the ring with my fingerprint on the inside, and you can't really engravee. Plus, I just want it to be the fingerprint.
We haven't really discussed mine, but it's going to be pretty skinny, so probably nothing.

We can't engrave mine because I don't think there's a surface on which to engrave (it's pave diamonds all around). His is going to be platinum and I may get some engraving on it, but haven't put much thought into what.

Speaking of which, where did you guys purchase your rings? Local stores or chain stores? Is there a significant difference in price or quality?

<div>We are buying our rings through FI's dad's friend who is a jeweler. FI got my ring through him and he did a great job and gave him a great deal. I think I would prefer to use a local place over a chain for something as important as a wedding ring, but that's just a personal preference. </div>

I"m thinking about engraving a equation in FIs ring because he is going to school to be an astrophysicist. But I have no idea how to write and equation so I'm waiting on a friend to let me know if there is an equation that means love or something like that. As for my ring probably no engraving it's to small.

I love the fingerprint idea cwaggoner07, I've seen that before and I think it's so darling! We got ours engraved but are keeping what we had each others engraved with a secret. I had 'home is with you' engraved on FIs (it makes reference to what he said when he propsed to me) and I will just have to wait till after the ceremony to see what's on mine
