Vendor Reviews

Hey everyone,
I always looked forward to reading everyones reviews so I promised myself I would write some when my wedding was over. I got married Sunday July 24th, at Beckwithe Point and it was beautiful

So here they are!!!!

Beckwith Pointe- Amazing, amazing, amazing! Everything was perfect, Linda and Mike made sure that everything was exactly how I wanted it, and our Maitre'd was AWESOME. Our cakes flowers wound up dying before the cake got there and when I asked about the flowers he  said that  he had to  improvise and gave our centerpieces a little "hair cut" and our cake flowerss turned out even better than I originally had planned. Our wedding attendant was also fantastic!!!! Every time our drinks were empty he would get a refill, every time we left the table he would fix the chairs and reset the napkins, I cant say enough about the service! To move on to the food, everything was delicious! My one regret is not eating anything during cocktail hour, but luckily I was able to attend a wedding there two weeks prior so I got to taste everything then!!! I would highly recommend Beckwith to anyone! The view, the pictures, the service, the food....They get an A++

A Starry Night(DJ)- Carol was awesome and really easy to work with she kept our dance floor going all night, I had so much fun with her as our DJ, I had two small complaints and that a few of our must plays werent played and there was a mix up in parent dance songs, but really every wedding has their small gliches! I didn't mind too much. I will give her an A

Title Video- Tom did a great job, I love our video, we didnt get anything crazy just a very basic package for a really decent price. He gave us 3 dvds, a flash drive, and our raw footage, so we have plenty of back ups! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a simple wedding video. They get an A

Nelson Bakerman Photography- All I have to say is WOW! I have seen all of my pictures and they are amazing! I uploaded 300 of the 705 we got back because I wouldnt choose just a few, his candid shots were phenomenal, talk about a photographer with a creative eye, he gets those candids that you will look back on and remember what an awesome day your wedding was. I am IN LOVE with all of our pictures! He was FABULOUS!!!!!!! A+++

Jacqueline Marie(Make-up Artist)- She is a recent graduate from the Make-Up Designory. She did SUCH a great job on my makeup and traveled to my venue. She listened to my requests and made me look beautiful! She is new to the industry, but priced very well, I would highly recommend her! Her contact info can be found on this site www.jacquelinemarie.info (She did such an amazing job the least I can do is recommend her as she is starting out to fellow knotties!!!) She gets an A+

Salon 877- Salon 877 is in Ardsley and THEY ARE OPEN SUNDAYS! My wedding was on a Sunday and it was tough trying to find a place open who would do all of my girls hair and mine! Jennifer was my hair stylist and did an awesome job! I went to her for a trial and loved it, I was sold! I give them an A+

Crowne Plaza- very accomadating, unfortunately our wedding ended up 1030pm and when we went back to the hotel we wanted to keep the party going a little while longer, but they closed the bar exactly at 12 and refused to serve our guests after that time which was a little annoying, but everything else went smoothly. B++

Westchester Floral- I have to say I loved them and Vito especially he was an awesome designer, my centerpieces, bouquet, and gazebo turned out PERFECT, but I was slightly disappointed in my MOH bouquet, it was supposed to be bigger than the other bridesmaids, but I couldnt even tell the difference, and I was also upset that the flowers they sent over for my cake died before they even made it to the venue, I am not sure what happened, but I loved MOST of the things I got from them so I will give them a B+

Fontana Bridal Salon-I got my dress from Fontanas as well as my bridesmaid dresses. I really wasnt happy with my experience with either of them. My dress came in earlier than expected and without a phone call or warning they ripped the remaining balance of the dress ($2000+) out of my checking account. Luckily my bank called me to let me know(not exactly the way you want to find out your wedding dress has arrived). I thought it was highly unprofessional and wasn't happy with the service I received when calling to complain about the transaction taking place without a phone call. I had ordered my bridesmaid dresses with them two weeks prior to getting my gown, so they had ALL my business and I was NOT happy about it, I did however let them know I did not want alterations there because I was done dealing with them. I put that experience behind me and hoped for better service for my girls dresses, not the case at all. I called them mutliple times after the 6 week mark and asked for an update, it was always you will get a call back and never would, I was LIVID, my girls didnt get their dresses until 2 and a half weeks before the wedding, we never received an explaination for the tardy dresses, even though we ordered them the first week of February, I am not sure what happened and I am not trying to bash Fontanas, but I am just trying to give my honest experience. I hope for all you future brides if you are working with them you have a better experience. I give them a D

Pitti Tailor- AMAZING, he did a better job than I ever thought he could with my dress, it fit like a GLOVE! He was PERFECT! My dress was amazing!

If anyone wants any information on my vendors please feel free to PM me! I will still be checking my knot account! =)

I am using Fontana's as well.  MY girls were NOT very happy with their alterations being charged the DAY the dresses came in- in fact, half of them weren't even getting their alterations done there but were charged regardless!

That is my only complaint from them though.  Almost all of our dresses are in and they have been great from start to finish.  I would still highly recommend them- just watch your credit card bills!

How long did it take for your gown to come in at Fontana?

Principesa: Just want to tell you that Jenn at 877 is a good friend of mine, I took a picture of your review and bbmed it to her this morning and she was so happy you were so happy! How ironic, her wedding is one month from today :)

Rachel, yea I loved my hair. Jenn did awesome! and don't be nervous about Fontana, just make sure you are on top of them, I didn't want to scare you...sorry!!!! My dress came in February and I ordered it at the end of September, it was a LaRichi...some people have better luck with Fontanas than I did...my experience was just what it was, but be careful with payments for sure and be on top of your order...best of luck ladies!!  =)

My dress and veil were from Fontana. Dress came in 4 months early and my fittings were wonderfully, the dress fit me like a glove.

The veil was a NIGHTMARE. Was promised it would come in April 1 (wedding was May 28). That day came and went, I called multiple times with them promising it would "be there in 2 days", "be there in three days" "someone was bringing it tomorrow to the store by car) etc etc. Sometimes they were going to "check with the designer and call me back"- never called me back. Finally it was 2 weeks before my wedding and somehow they figured out it never came in BECAUSE THEY NEVER ACTUALLY ORDERED IT. I was PISSED. It finally came in 2 days before my wedding and was exactly what I ordered so luckily it worked out. They promised to give me a free floor sample to use on my wedding day if it didn't work out but there weren't any floor samples that I liked (I picked out my veil at a trunk show). I was very lucky that everything worked out in the end but I was so stressed out and upset and it was a terrible experience.

Where did you girls get your BM dresses? This is something I am having a very hard time with...all different types of girls with different styles and bodies.

I used Fontana for my wedding in June.

I ordered my dress on Jan. 30, 2009 and it came in on March 1st, 2011. (they told me it would be in 8 months from that date) clearly you can see that it was more than 8 months. They actually didn't even call me to tell me my gown arrived, they emailed me. I'm glad I get my emails to phone so I saw it right away.
They had me come in and inspect my dress to make sure it was the right one and then I started fittings in May as per their suggestion). My fittings were actaully stress free and my dress turned out great.

We ordered my bridesmaid dresses in June of 2010 and the arrived in April 2011. They told us 5 months since that date. (again, clearly, more than 5 months). I actually started stressing a lot towards this time, because I still hadn't heard word on the BM dresses and it this point it was coming down to the wire. I called a few times and kept being told "they should be in in 2 weeks" and then they finally came in April 2011. They do this purprosly even with bridal gowns so that you (and girls) do your fittings 2 months before, you have your last a week before the date and then you take your dress. I actually picked up all 8 of my bridesmaids dresses from Fontana and delievered them my girls, I didn't want them to have to all go there and pick them up. We told them from the get go that they weren't doing altertations there. It actually turned out that all my girls ordered the same size dress, (8) and no one needed alterations! Only one of my girls needed a bigger size because she has a bigger bust, her dress was too small and her mom called (she was a younger BM, my husbands cousin) and told them they measured her wrong, and they actually agreed. They ordered a piece of matieral and fixed her dress at no charge.

I've heard a lot of stories about them charging people and being very sneaky when it comes to that so you just really need to be careful and have your girls watch their credit card statements as well.

Oh, and make sure to mention (because they probably wont) on their own, that if you buy your gown there, they will give each BM 10% off their dresses.

I went to buy my veil and they gave me 30% percent off of it. I was trying to decide between two veils, and the more expensive one was IT. I was in love with it and it went perfect with my dress. I told them that my budger was closter to the price of the other one, and they gave me 30% off of it and I was able to get the veil I loved. So always ask!

All in all I would say I totally understand what other girls say about the feelings they have torward the service at Fontana. Thank God in the end the important thing is that my dress, and my girls dresses all were perfect.
