Brandon and I have been dating for a little over 2 years. He proposed on Oct. 25, 2009.
Geocaching is a hobby that both Emily and Brandon enjoy together. If you have never heard of it, geocaching is a real life treasure hunt! People hide caches, or containers, full of toys, log books, pencils, etc in the woods and around communities and post the latitude and longitude coordinates for the cache online. Then interested cachers go online and download said caches. Using a GPS the cachers go out into the world and find the caches.
So, Brandon told Emily that their pastor had recently hidden his very first cache and we had to be the First to Find on it (which in the geocaching world is a pretty big deal!!) So they jump into the car and Brandon drives to a wooded area a little ways outside of their hometown. After loading his GPS with the coordinates, Brandon and Emily make their way into the wood to find the cache. After a few hundred feet of walking Emily spots the cache right away, tucked inside a hollow tree stump. Thinking Brandon was stupid to completely walk by the cache, she scolds him saying "I can't believe you missed it! It's right here!!"
After opening the cache Emily realizes that this is not a normal cache. Inside was a small gold gift bag, instead of the normal cache contents. Still having no idea what was going on, Brandon promptly pulls out the ring box, tucked neatly away in the cache container, and gets down on one knee. After a few sweet words, he says "Emily, Will you marry me?" and opens the ring box. This is when Emily finally realizes that it's for real and says "Yes! Of course I'll marry you!!"
After a few hugs and kisses Brandon says, "And, I have one more surprise for you...Look over there" He points to a fallen over tree and hiding in full camo gear is Pastor Jeff and his son Sam. Jeff took pictures of the whole thing and Emily had NO idea!! Now the entire proposal is captured shot by shot on film! After a few "Congratulations" and a couple excited phone calls, the newly engaged couple take a few posed shots with the beautiful backdrop of the fall woods.
