Pittsburgh Catholic churches that host non-parishoner weddings

Hi, Ladies!

Unfortunately I don't live in the 'Burgh anymore, but I'm coming back to my hometown for my wedding! I need to find a Catholic church that will host a non-parishoner wedding. Anyone been through this before? Do you know of any great churches in and around the city that host weddings for non-parishoners?

St. Mary of the Mount does - I believe it is $1K.

St. Stanislaus in the Strip will also, I think.

Some might require you to bring your own priest - is that an option?

Hey I went through a similar thing too, we tried EVERY church and were turned down so many times! The church that we belong to was booked (so it wasn't like we were not members of any church! but that also meant we weren't considering becoming members)

My advice. Try St. Mary on the Mount (on Mt. Washington its amazing and I know for sure they do hold ceremonies for non members) My other advice is if you are a member of a church ask if your priest knows any churches in the Pittsburgh area. Or if you have friends who belong to a church. A few churches we tried said they would if even just a guest was a memeber.

another tip (not sure if you will be moving here) but some churches were ok if we would consider becoming a member.

We ended up having an out door ceremony at our reception site, but keep me updated on your search!

I used St. Peter Church in the North Side. It is a beautiful old gothic-style church. As a non-parishioner they may require you to bring your own priest, or to at least geat clearances from your OOT parish and to meet with the current parish priest there.

I also went through this when trying to find a church. DF and I hadn't joined a church but regularly attended mass at a few churches in Shadyside and Oakland when we were looking. Alot of the churches we called requested that we bring a priest in if we were not members. This was a problem for us since we did not belong to a church and weren't close with any priests in the area. Since we do live in the area, we ended up joining a church in the North Hills, St. Sebastian's. I'm not positive if they will host non-parishoner weddings but the woman who handles weddings is very nice and easy to get ahold of! That was another problem I had when calling around!

There are a few catholic churches right in downtown Pittsburgh, Epiphany which is the red church close to the Civic arena and the new Consol energy arena, and St Mary of Mercy which is close to PPG.

I'm having my ceremony at St. Paul's Cathedral in Oakland and I am not a parishoner there - The fee is 1k and we have to bring in our own priest. I believe Sacred Heart in Shadyside also does non parishoner ceremonies but, again, you need to bring in your own priest.

If you are at all affiliated (even family memeber) with University of Pittsburgh, you can hold Catholic ceremonies in Heinz Chapel (again, you must bring in your own priest). Sorry I'm not more of a help!

i think st sebastian does non-parishoner weddings... my friends are getting married there.... the bride is not catholic and i'm fairly certain the groom belongs to a different church that isn't in the area where they are having the reception.

St. Thomas More allows for non-parishoner weddings. It is right across the street from South Hills Village Mall in the South Hills.

We just had our wedding at St. Boniface- we are non-parishioners, DH is Catholic, and I am not. It was a beautiful church and they were so easy to work with

I think the fee was $600. We also considered St. Mary of the Mount and the Cathedral in Oakland.

Sts. John and Paul Church is in Wexford, PA (about 20 mins north of the city) does non-parishioner weddings! (I'm the parish secretary / scheduling girl... just ask if you have any more questions!)
The only stipulations are, we do them at 11 am, and you would have to bring in your own priest.
