Wedding colors

So my future mother in law and her mother were trying to help me decided on some things. My mom has been very helpful in areas that she knows but she is from rural Germany and they do not have weddings like they have here in America.

Anyway, I want to add some extra color to the wedding but I don't want it to clash. I have burgundy, ivory, and brown. I was thinking about teal and adding some sunflowers. My flowers are mostly going to be burgundy and the guys flowers are going to be a tan heather. I don't believe that I have to have every single color in every singe element of the wedding, but I want to change it up instead of the three color scheme. Our wedding is on October 5th of this year at an old farm stead with the barn converted into a dance hall. My fiance wants to have the guys were black for the suits, but I do not want black decoration, so I chose brown instead to match with the outdoor elements. Any ideas with the colors? Do you think teal and sunflowers will work with the other colors I have chosen?

    The guys can still have black suits if they want.

    I don't know what Iowa is like in the fall, but if you want my opinion, I wouldn't really go with a true teal, but maybe like a dark teal bordering on forest green. I would also add in some golden tones, maybe like true metallic gold, butter, soft goldenrod and shades of champagne. Teal is a cool-tone color and unless there is an element of warmth to the shade you choose, I'd shy away from it.

    Also, I don't think sunflowers will look in place there... BUT, that's just one lowely (although color and style concious) girl's opinion....

    I'm not feeling the teal. I saw once on a post where they suggested going to a paint/hardware store and pick out some color samples in the colors you already picked and then go around to the other colors holding the ones you are going with to the other colors until you find something that stands out to you.

    I think the color of the sunflowers - especially if you use a mixture of yellow and orange - will look lovely with the colors you already picked. I don't know about the teal. I think the 3 colors are already enough, and the sunflowers will pop against those. When you use deep colors, using a bright color is often too harsh of a contrast.

    I was also an October bride and we used a deep russet red, chocolate and burnt orange. The WP was in deep red, the table runners and invitations were chocolate, and we used silk leaves and "fall centerpieces" we got at Michaels in fall colors as reception decor. The BMs had orange roses with brown fiddlehead ferns as bouquets, and I had a mixture of orange and red roses, red coffee berries, orange orchids, red mini calla lillies, and fiddleheads, wrapped with brown silk. The bouts were orange roses, except my husband, who had a mini calla lilly.

    You could also use some metallics - a little silver and gold for picture frames or some sparkly cristals to add some shimmer and pop.
