Cake

I need a wedding cake :)

I want something on the less expensive side because I am having a huge dessert table.  Maybe $400 or under for 200 people... is that possible?

I don't mind going to a shop or a private cake baker as long as the cake is moist and delicious.

Parma/Strongsville area.

A wedding is a party, not a performance. If at the end of the day you are married to the one you love, then everything went perfectly.

  • I'm going to The Bake Shoppe in Ghent. They're about  $2  a slice. They're in the Falrlawn area.

  • Check out Fragapane's in North Olmsted.  Their cake starts at $2.30 a slice.
  • Breads and Beyond is where we got our cake. They're in Parma and basic cake is priced at $1.85/slice. Yummy buttercream, too! I'd think as long as you are going for a very simple design, you should be within $400. The more decoration and work that goes into the design, the more $$ you'll pay. Fondant also costs more.

You might also consider a smaller 'cutting cake' for you and DH, and then having larger sheet cakes in the back to cut from for guests.

  • JK, did the cake taste good? I really want a cassata cake for my wedding cake and I saw that they offer it for a good price!
  • Yes, we liked it a lot. We had them do yellow cake, IIRC.. The filling inside was raspberry (tart, similar to Godiva's rasp. candy filling) and we did buttercream frosting.

I would definitely suggest tasting first though, to see if it's the flavor/texture YOU like. If you're considering cassatta, there are very few bakeries that really do a good job with it, IMO. It's definitely a specialty kind of item. I've not tried their cassatta.

  • Also check out Michael Angelo's bakery in Broadview Heights.  We are doing a three tier cake and a sheet cake with their specialty flavors/fillings for just under $400.  You could definitely do it for that for about 200 people (we are having 180)

We're also getting our cake from Michael Angelo's.  Their white cake is really good!  And their prices are on their website, michaelangelosbakery.com.
  • Also, have I mentioned Michael Angelo's cake is delicious and their bakery is huge.  The facilities are really nice.

  • Another vote for michael angelos. We are doing 4 tiers. 2 cassata, 2 chocolate with chocolate mouse.
