Uplighting

Hi, girls,

So let's talk about uplighting. For years, beautiful weddings were had without it. Pictures looked amazing, mood was set, guests were wowed... But now I am feeling persuaded to believe that a room (specifically a ballroom at the Tradewinds Island Grand) may just look like a room without it.

Anyone been to a wedding at the Tradewinds without uplighting? How does that crazy carpet look without it?

Anyone have strong opinions on uplighting? Grant Hemond is my DJ and I know they push it, but I want to be sure that draping the room in blue light is the best idea for me (it's a destination wedding and we're not having a lot of "stuff"as we are in our mid-30s; but we're not doing it tooooo simply as it's a first wedding for both of us and heck,we waited until our mid-30s!!!!) and the mood we're trying to establish: relaxed, elegant, beautiful, subtle, ambiance.

Thanks!!

I had Grant Hemond as well and I decided at last minute to do pink uplighting. Thank goodness I did it!!!! It looked amazing and I received so many compliments. H thought it would be a waste of money, but after he saw it he was so glad I went with it. Here are some pictures:

    I hope this helps!

How much are they charging for uplighting?  Just curious because I am interested in it myself.

I don't think Grant Hemond charges the same amount for everyone. We haven't talked to them, but because we're paying so much (I've heard other brides quote prices a few hundred below ours -- and ours is a Sunday night in February!), we're going to try to get them to toss it in for free. Look into it, tampabayRN. You never know what they may throw your way.:)

Your very welcome! We had ours at Rusty Pelican. The uplighting added so much to the room, it was worth the money IMO.

Our florist is doing ours.  We picked pink for most of the walls, and blue for the band.  I just think it helps set the mood.  :)

Thank you guys! I found out that Grant Hemond has a range of services for uplighting. For those who are interested, if you go to their FB page, they feature photos of rooms bathed in light, dramatic clubby lighting and subtle pinspotting. What a cool service! I'm excited to go for it now!
