Most people recommend not looking until at least 1 year before the wedding. I ordered mine with 6 months to go, but that was pushing it a bit. 10-12 months is a good time.

My wedding is in June of next year as well, I didn't plan on looking till the end of this summer.  :)

Great thank you! I'm hearing a lot of different things so I wanna make sure I'm not going in too early. Maybe end of Summer!

I would do the end of summer.  Getting your dress in sooner than later is always better!  Welcome to the board girlfriend!  I ordered my dress 9 months out and I wouldn't change it.  I like having the assurance of having my dress in my hands this past 3 months!

Thank you! I'm all about less stress so end of summer sounds like the perfect time.

Just be careful that once you get your dress, you don't go trying any more on! That way lies disaster. A lot of people don't have that "the one" feeling, so giving yourself a little less time is a good idea. I got mine 9 months out and it was perfect timing for me.

Ditto what everyone else said.  I tried on dresses in the summer and ordered my dress in November (my wedding was early May).  That was pushing it quite close, but a rush order wasn't necessary (which would've cost more).  I was lucky that the dress arrived in February/March...earlier than expected.  It depends on when the shop makes orders and some makers/manufacturers take longer than others.

General rule of thumb, allow at least 6 months for the dress to arrive and allow 1 or 2 months for alterations.  8-9 months sounds about right.  As Alyson said, don't order too far out, because new styles for the next season might come out...you don't want to regret your choice!  If you're eager, you could always go dress shopping early and keep some choices at the back of your mind, but hold off ordering until 8-9 months out.  That way you still have room to change your mind.  :)

My wedding isn't until July 2012.  I already found and ordered my dress.

I am soooo not looking forward to trying on dresses. My wedding is also next June and my MOH keeps asking me to go shopping but I just can't yet. Kimmy I looked at your website when you emailed me and was shocked at your dress story. Sounds exactly how I picture my shopping trip.  Hopefully a lot more champange will be involved. LOL
