Wedding Recap and Withdrawal

Recent brides: Beauty product reviews?

I've got lots of ideas, but I'd like to hear from recent brides about what actually WORKED and what didn't for their wedding beauty products and services. Please tell me what you ended up getting/doing for the following, and whether or not you would recommend it. Did it work out?

1. Makeup brand(s) and product(s) (such as primer, finishing spray, etc.)

2. Makeup professionally applied, done by a friend, or done yourself?

3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.)

4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home?

5. Deodorant type and brand

6. Teeth whitening brand and/or kit, home or at dentist?

7. Tanning - Tanning bed, spray tan, bronzer, natural sun? Brands?

8. Any hair product recommendations?

1. Makeup brand(s) and product(s) (such as primer, finishing spray, etc.)

2. Makeup professionally applied, done by a friend, or done yourself? My sister/MOH did my make-up. She did several trials and experimented with different shades for my eyes, etc. I gave her pics of what I wanted and she did a great job. We did use a primer and that really helped with the make-up staying put for the whole reception.

3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.) My natural nails are very nice, and I did a good job of not breaking them before the wedding. I got a French manicure and pedicure at the local salon. Believe it or not, it was my first mani and pedi, I usually just do them myself.

4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home? shaved as usual. I did, however, get a Brazilian wax down there for the HM. H really wanted me to and I was glad I did. It was worth it. I just wish I could afford to keep it up.

5. Deodorant type and brand I tend to sweat a lot and am not particulary loyal to one brand. The day of the wedding I used Secret. I recently started using Mitchum for Women (not a big fan of the scent - but it works well)

6. Teeth whitening brand and/or kit, home or at dentist? Crest Whitestrips all the way. I have used them numerous times before the wedding as well.

7. Tanning - Tanning bed, spray tan, bronzer, natural sun? Brands? natural sun, we live in the south and have a pool in our apt, I started laying out in March

8. Any hair product recommendations? dunno about this one, got that professionally done as well

1. Makeup brand(s) and product(s) (such as primer, finishing spray, etc.)
Bare minerals make-up
2. Makeup professionally applied, done by a friend, or done yourself?
Professionally done at the same salon as my hair. I've had it done by the same girl for 2 other weddings I was in so I never did a trial or anything. They use all bare minerals at the salon.
3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.)
Natural. I had a mani/pedi a few days before the wedding. I've had acrylic nails done twice in my life and hated them, and they ruined my nails. Its honestly not worth getting them done just for your wedding. Honestly, people are not going to notice your nails.
4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home?
Shaved like normal. Arms and pits.
5. Deodorant type and brand
Secret Clinical Strength. After we did our pics outside and had been walking in the heat I washed under my armpits at the reception site and put new deodorant on. That was just plain secret.
6. Teeth whitening brand and/or kit, home or at dentist?
At home. I used BriteSmile toothpaste for about a month or so before the wedding.
7. Tanning - Tanning bed, spray tan, bronzer, natural sun? Brands?
Natural sun. My wedding was the end of July, so I bought a strapless bathing suit and spent many days by my aunts pool. Also anytime I was outside for more than about 20 minutes I wore the bathing suit top or a strapless dress to avoid tan lines.
8.. Any hair product recommendations?
I had mine professionally done. I don't ever put anything in my hair though other than shampoo and conditioner.

• I used MAC lipgloss and lip paint. It's the kind that lasts for 14 hours. It was a lip stain almost. It was wonderful. It never came off even after eating and drinking. I also used waterproof mascara but I don't remember the brand.

2. always professionally applied and airbrush if you can. YOu'll hate your pictures if you hate your make up.

3. I got pink and white acrylics and I was happy with them. Some people like gel as well. I think it's a personal preference.

4. I waxed my eyebrows professionally with sugar waxing which I would recommend because it's better for sensitive skin. I shaved everything else.

• 1. Makeup brand(s) and product(s) My photographer highly recommended smashbox photofinish primer, and I've used it for other weddings I have been in and it does make my makeup stay put. I have heard that mineral makeup can look weird with photography, so I have used a neutral transluscent loose power instead of my bare minerals whenever I'm going to be photographed (for engagement photos/other people's weddings)
2. Makeup professionally applied, done by a friend, or done yourself? I will be doing it myself, but I'm good with makeup did my cousin's for her wedding

3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.) Natural, probably french

4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home? Shaving, but I'll be getting my eyebrows threaded

5. Deodorant type and brand no real loyalty, whatever is on sale

6. Teeth whitening brand and/or kit, home or at dentist? at home whitestrips

7. Tanning - Tanning bed, spray tan, bronzer, natural sun? Brands? no tan, I'm rocking the pale

8. Any hair product recommendations? splurging and getting my hair done
• 1. Makeup brand(s) and product(s) (such as primer, finishing spray, etc.): I used CoverGirl for mostly every detail, except for Clinique lipstick and lipgloss. No primer, no finishing spray. Lasted all day!
2. Makeup professionally applied, done by a friend, or done yourself?: Makeup was done by my cousin who is going to school to become an esthetician. Would have done it myself if she hadn't offered.
3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.): All natural nails with a french manicure done at a salon.
4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home?: Psh. Shave. At home. No need to put myself in pain. LoL.
5. Deodorant type and brand?: Degree clinical protection is my normal, but I went with Secret clear gel the day of so I wouldn't get unsightly white clumpies.
6. Teeth whitening brand and/or kit, home or at dentist?: Crest Premium whitening strips. Started appx. one month before wedding date.
7. Tanning - Tanning bed, spray tan, bronzer, natural sun? Brands?: ... Natural. No tanning. Why would I want to look different one day than I have the rest of my life?
8. Any hair product recommendations?: My stylist used a Milano curler to make those puppies stay all day. Redken and BedHead were the products. I wasn't paying close enough attention to give details. LoL.

1. Makeup brand(s) and product(s) (such as primer, finishing spray, etc.)
Makeup Forever HD Primer and foundation. Mac Mineralize power, Mac blush in Cheeky, Urban Decay Eye Shadow Primer and Shadows, Mac Fluidline eye liner, Mac Eye lashes, DiorShow Waterproof Mascara (amazing!!!!!) Mac lipgloss, Model in a Bottle Finishing Spray. Everything lasted so good throughout the day. Only had to reapply lipgloss

2. Makeup professionally applied, done by a friend, or done yourself?
I did it myself. I researched products, watched videos, found a look I liked and practiced. It came out great and doing my makeup gave me a chance to relax and calm down in the madness of getting ready

3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.)
Gel french manicure...love love love and it lasts for 3 wks

4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home?
Bikini wax (pro)...love love love

5. Deodorant type and brand
Secret Clinical Strength...a must for a summer wedding :)

6. Teeth whitening brand and/or kit, home or at dentist?
I bought an at home kit..actually the CVS brand and only did it for about a week. Saw a great improvement

Professionally applied.
3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.)
Natural nails. Had the professionals paint french manicure on my nails.
4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home?
Shaving, just normal.
5. Deodorant type and brand Toms of Maine, Lavendar scent.

7. Tanning - Tanning bed, spray tan, bronzer, natural sun? Brands?
I don't need a tan, also this is harmful to your skin. Why would you want to look darker, or bronzey, if it's not your natural skin color?

Organic shampoo, conditioner, with less ingredients that you can actually read. My MUA was also my hair stylist.

Checkout my nails :)

• Mine worked out really well!

1. Makeup brand(s) and product(s) (such as primer, finishing spray, etc.)
I am not sure of her products, they were "professional", she used the air brush foundation which was awesome and fake eyelashes, which I am in love with.

2. Makeup professionally applied, done by a friend, or done yourself?
Professional

3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.)
I am now obsessed with this new CNC Shellac, it is a gel but so much more gentle and easy to remove (just with alcohol, not acetone). It lasted 3 weeks without a chip (of course it looked bad because my nails had grown out too much, but I was on my honeymoon and couldn't be bothered to take it off).

4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home?
Both, waxing was professional and shaving at home.

5. Deodorant type and brand
the same one I always use

6. Teeth whitening brand and/or kit, home or at dentist?
At dentist, didn't seen any real difference. I think the at home kits work just as well, if not better.

7. Tanning - Tanning bed, spray tan, bronzer, natural sun? Brands?
Natural tan, but the make-up artist did add some bronzer too.

8. Any hair product recommendations?
nothing special
• 1. Makeup brand(s) and product(s) (such as primer, finishing spray, etc.)
I used L'Oreal Bare Naturale. Like bare minerals only friendly on the pocket. I also recommend Model in a bottle (modelinabottle.com) it is FABOLOUS. It's a make up 'setter' and it kept my make up all day even through crying. I did use waterproof mascara though.
2. Makeup professionally applied, done by a friend, or done yourself?
I love make up, and have been doing my make up myself since I was little. I did it myself.
3. Nails - salon, glue-on, or natural? What type? (gel, acrylic, etc.)
Acrylics. I don't see anything wrong with these, the girl that 'ruined' her nails with these must not have taken them off right. You can get them taken off at the salon for like $10 and your nails look fine. At least mine do.
4. Hair removal - Shaving? Waxing? Professional or at home?
Shaved, at home, as usual.
5. Deodorant type and brand
Dove, the stuff that says it's black dress approved lol.
6. Teeth whitening brand and/or kit, home or at dentist?
Didn't have to. I use whitening toothpaste so I was good to go :)
7. Tanning - Tanning bed, spray tan, bronzer, natural sun? Brands?
I did a tanning bed for 4 months. 3x a week. I really don't recomend it though, I'd say go spray tan, it's much healthier :) But get it done like 2-3 days BEFORE the wedding so it won't rub on your dress
8. Any hair product recommendations?
Wash your hair the night before if you're doing like curls or anything your hair doesn't do normally. My curls held all day because of this.
