hey crafty ladies... question about stamps/ink

So, here's the story... I need to give the wait staff at our venue a way to know who ordered what for dinner since they will be indicating with their RSVP.  I had the (somewhat) brilliant idea to use different color place cards... bright pink for beef, pale pink for chicken, silver for veggie... which works perfectly because our wedding colors are silver and shades of pink.

I ordered the cards from papersource.com (great site!  highly recommend) and while the colors are just as I envisioned, the cards are a little plain and  boring.

I found this super cute flower stamp and I'd like to stamp all of them with it... bright pink ink for the silver and pale pink cards, silver ink for the bright pink card.  Then I discovered there are all different kinds of ink, so my question is this... what kind of ink will work best for a lighter color (silver) on darker paper (the pink)?  I thought about going to Michael's and just asking, but sometimes I feel like the store associates aren't all that knowledgeable.

Thanks ladies!

Re: hey crafty ladies... question about stamps/ink

  • if you buy the higher quality inks, they turn out pretty well.  Just make sure to read the label to see what the ink is intended for (type of paper etc) you don't want the ink to smear and you want to make sure it dries.  Michaels carries a color box brand ink which should be fine for what you're using it for.
  • Something else you could consider is using a Martha Stewart punch.  I bought a tulip one on sale for $6 at Michael's and I'm hoping to use it on some of my stationery.  Just a thought if they happen to have one you liked/ that matched your theme!

<div>I hadn't even thought about that!  I'll have to explore that when I'm checking out ink and maybe change my plans a little :)</div>
  • If you have a Joann's near you, they usually have all the scrapbook stuff (including inks/stamps/punches) on sale and they also accept their coupons and competitiors coupons (ie: michaels or hobby lobby) I just look online for coupons instead of waiting for emails.

I was going to suggest the same thing! There are so many cute hole punch shapes to choose from. I used them for my tears of joy package labels. If it were me, I'd probably just buy the most expensive ink available if you decide to stick with that idea.
