Non Demoninational Churches

Hello ladies. Does anyone have any names of good Non Demoniational churches in RI. My dream is the beach ceremony but I have to be realistic, spring showers are too unpredictable. So I want to look into back up. FI is Catholic but I am divorced so we can not marry in a Catholic church. So after making sure he was not opposed to a non demoniational church I started looking. Any ideas would be great. Thank you

We are getting married at South Ferry Church in Narragansett. It is a non-denominational chapel on outskirts of the URI campus and located near the water. We are both Catholic but from out-of-town and were unable to find a local Church that would host us as non-parishoners (and also treated rudely when trying to contact the local Churches).  However we still wanted to be in some semblance of a Church.  It's $500 to rent it and they list the max capacity as 150.

Search "South Ferry Church" and Rhode Island on google to get more pics (you'll also start spotting it in RI wedding photographer albums) as the pics of the interior on the South Ferry site are outdated (inside is all the same beautiful, soft, lightish green/blue that the alls are; the pews are NOT the ugly brown color on the site).

Good luck and let me know if you have any more questions!

  • Thank you Erin. I will do some research on the church. I appreciate your feedback

  • I am getting married at the Kay Chapel which is owned by the Hotel Viking in Newport, RI.  I think it can hold up to 200 people and you don't have to have your wedding at the Viking to rent it out.  The only down side is that you need to find your own officiant.
  • You may want to look into Watch Hill Chapel in Watch Hill (http://www.watchhillchapel.org/home.html ) and Avondale Chapel in Westerly (http://www.avondalechapel.org/Welcome.html ). There's also one in Westerly called the Weekapaug Chapel (http://www.weekapauglife.com/viewphotos.php?photoid=42). I believe they are all non-denominational.

Hope you're able to find what you're looking for!

  • Can anyone who has had their wedding at Kay Chapel give a review?  There is no organ or music options, and there is no a/c for a summer wedding.  Looking to find out how to overcome this!

    Thanks.
