Sunless Tanner FAIL

Our engagement pictures are on Sunday, and I was feeling pretty pale (read: vain) so I decided to buy the Jergans tanning lotion because it was on sale and I had a coupon.

Yesterday I noticed that my left arm appeared to be breaking out in hives, but I attributed it to a crappy stressful day at work. So, I got home, showered and began to reapply the lotion...

About 15 minutes later my body was on fire and completely broken out in hives. Now I'm just hoping that the Benadryl and Cortaid cream get rid of the bumps before Sunday. So much for my cancer-free tan.

Oh my gosh! That's horrible! I used that stuff last summer and intend to this summer as well, but I know everyone has different reactions to stuff. I really hope it clears up quickly. You still have a few days, but just in case if it's Friday and they are still there would you be able to reschedule with your photographer? I hope it all works out though.

Rescheduling isn't really an option since we're coming from out of state. Plus I have a makeup trial scheduled before hand, so the chances of getting both rescheduled are unlikely. I'll just wear a turtle neck or something, it's only going to be 80 degrees

I am so sorry this happened to you! I have used it in the past and never had that happen to me. Maybe you have more sensitive skin then I do? Hopefully it will clear up for you by then!!

FWIW, I hate the smell of that stuff. I have a bottle and I can't use it. If I put it on, it's all I can smell all day long.

I've convined myself that I don't need to be tan...especially when the older women in my office lament all the time they spent in the sun when they were younger!

I will share! The most annoying part is I've used it before a few years ago. Either they changed their formula or I developed an allergy along the way. Oh well, at least the teeth whitening didn't cause my teeth to fall out =)

I'm sure you will be all better by Sunday but that has to be irritating! At least you're testing out some sunless tanner prior to the wedding to see what works for you. Good luck keeping it under control. You seem to have a good attitude about it (judging by your turtleneck comment), and that will help you get better quicker!

Claire - I'm not tanning either.

I want to get them done professionally because I've tried like the Crest Whitestrips and my teeth are too sensitive for those so then I tried the sensitivity ones and they didn't work at all.</div>

oh, tara!!! i'm so sorry this happened. i agree with PPs, you have plenty of time for the hives to go down. even if there is some remnants left that day i'm sure they'll be so faint you won't even be able to tell in the photographs. keep us posted!

oh man that totally sucks. By sunday you should be better though. Load up on antihistamines and take them as often as you are allowed until you feel better. Hope it will all be ok.

Oh no! I'm glad you're okay at the very least, and I hope you get well soon. I'm sure by Sunday the reaction should have cleared, though - and if not, it's probably time for a visit to the doctor to see what's going on!

So sorry! I bet you won't even be able to tell in the pictures. Can your photographer edit them, kind of like they would do acne in school pictures? I wouldn't stress about it! It will be okay.

I'm glad your doing ok and hopefully by Sunday you'll be all better again. This happened to me to before with a brand, I forget what it was because it was years ago, and it cleared up within a day or two.
