Experiences with vendors so far..

I think one of the things that has been such a surprise for wedding planning is how non responsive some vendors can be, while others are great!

Our wedding is up in the White Mountains in the fall. Our wedding site, the Mountain View Grand, has been pretty good so far, although I can't get the baker to return my emails about a cake.

Florist Dutch Bloemenwinkel has been responsive, helpful, excllent.

Don't even get me started about the Highland Center at Crawford Notch. Trying to get a simple rehearsal dinner buffet for 25 has been a nightmare. Sales took over a week to get a price, and now I've questioned the price and I may never hear from them again.

I thought businesses wanted to make money, especially given the economy. Why would vendors fail to return a call, email, etc.? Its too easy just to go with another vendor!

I hear you on this one.. I contacted a florist who was recommend by me through one of these boards and all though she was really quick to email me back and send me a contract, when I asked to meet with her so said she was only available Tuesday- Friday 9-5... well of course my FI and I work and what do you know we work 8-5 and 9-6 so that's not going to work.  Then she was quick to respond with "sorry the last spot for that weekend was just filled and we work on a first come first serve basis" then to top it off she adds "it didn't look like scheduling was going to work anyways!"  I was HORRIFIED when I read that!

Oh yeah...it's been pretty impressive how certain vendors really don't go out of their way. Yesterday we visited a site in Vermont, Yuck it was dirty and everything was well maybe we can. Certainly not comforting for your wedding day.

We are trying to figure out were to have our wedding. The Wentworth By the Sea Country Club is an absolute click, but Honestly I think our budget wasn't realistic. Not sure what to do Suze Ormann would stamp Denied to our vision for the wedding, we would be hitting savings big time.

The other thing about Wentworth by the Sea CC is that they have a really early ending time because of it being an outdoor venue (tent) everyone has to be out of the place by 9pm. A little silly if you ask me.. especially for what they charge! Have you checked out Portsmouth country club? They've been great and have a beautiful venue!
