Seating Chart help

I'm trying to find some software that will help with making a seating chart. It looks like we're going to end up having to assign tables and I don't feel all that confident in TKs seating chart tool - I've tried it, but don't really like it.

What did you guys use for yours - if you had a seating chart. How many guests did you have? Did you think of an easier way to do it after you did it the way you did?

Thanks!

I haven;t made a seating chart yet, but I plan on using paper plates and sticky notes :)

We just wrote out all the escort cards, then moved them around into piles that represented each table.  It took a bunch of moving around, but we finally figured it out, then just wrote the table number on each card under the name.

I can't imagine doing it on the computer... I'm one of those people that needs to physically move them around to see what was going on.

We will do this.... but I have seen some programs out there.  Here's what I've found in my wedding blog reading

I'm a very visual person also, but when I think about sitting down with 200ish little pieces of paper trying to fit everyone together, I see myself getting overwhelmed. Right now I've worked out a color coded thing in Excel, which seems to be working ok - but I have no idea where to put anyone from FI's side. I've just been working on my own to see if I can get the hang of it with people I'm familiar with.

Actually making the seating chart may prove more difficult than tracking down addresses & rsvps. Ick.

Not sure if this will help but it is a neat idea I found in Martha Stewarts magazine.  It might be a little time consuming with that many guests.  But it may help to visualize the seating arrangement.

I'm thinking now that sheets of computer paper (our tables are rectangle and I think it would help if whatever paper I use is the same shape) and Post-It notes will be my best friend about this time next week. It's so hard without all the RSVPs in to do my side at least. I think I'm going to stick to trying to seat families near each other because I'm honestly not sure who's fueding in the family at any given moment lol Hopefully then there are enough siblings around to keep the peace.
